Manage the development and implementation process of a specific company product involving departmental or cross-functional teams focused on the delivery of new or existing products. Plan and direct schedules and monitor budget/spending. Monitor the project from initiation through delivery. Organize the interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of the project/product on schedule and within budget constraints. Assign and monitor work of systems analysis and program staff, providing technical support and direction.

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. Seven years of project management, product design or related experience preferred.

We are looking for a proven, seasoned technical program manager to assist in developing and manage solutions drive operational excellence. You will support the team that is chartered with creating engineering systems that developers use for application and service development; service management platform that automates majority of operational activities, and analytics instrumentation that provides deep insights into service and customer behavior.

About the Role:

As a TPM, you will apply engineering and program management skills, working in concert with stakeholders across the various SaaS product teams, as well as services across Oracle Cloud Infrastructure organization, to fulfill the business and operational objectives of the SaaS unit as it migrates to OCI. This role has executive level visibility and interaction. The role requires a seasoned and mature individual with excellent communication skills and an attention to detail.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive a portfolio of operational programs aimed at improving availability of infrastructure services supporting the SaaS Cloud platform and ensure all programs, existing and future, have operational improvements or development programs aligned with their roadmaps

  • Engage with business stakeholders to perform needs assessments, understand use cases, and document requirements

  • Apply project management discipline to develop plans, define scope, document requirements, and manage budget/schedule/resources for a complex group of projects

  • Develop and maintain a body of dashboards representing metrics/KPIs/SLOs coordinated and agreed upon between the SaaS and IaaS organizations

  • Orchestrate an engagement framework which integrates the various SaaS organizations into operational improvement efforts

  • Partner with OCI Services to meet and raise the operational bar with appropriate processes, enhancements, and solutions

  • Demonstrate flexibility and resilience in response to changing or ambiguous situations, directing changes through appropriate review and approval mechanisms

  • dcoperational requirements and programs while contributing to their improvement

  • Coordinate the development and maintenance of metrics and KPIs that speak to the operational health of services that support the SaaS cloud platform

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualification:

  • 5 years of experience supporting the development and/or operations in a cloud environment, or technical background that enables you to understand networking

  • 5 years of project/program management experience

  • Bachelors degree or higher, or equivalent experience relevant to functional area

  • Experience with Scrum, Lean and other agile practices and methodologies

  • Successful collaboration skills and tools that focus on earning trust with distributed teams

  • Solid organizational skills, attention to detail, and multitasking capabilities

  • Outstanding proactive communication skills: written, verbal, presentations

  • Demonstrate confidence, synthesize complex elements into a crisp, yet robust story

  • Ability to effectively train/teach others new information and processes

  • Self-driven, analytical, and results-oriented with proven sound judgment

  • Positive influence to lead through frequent ambiguity/uncertainty/change

  • Maturity, judgment, negotiation/influence skills, analytical skills, and leadership skills

  • Knowledge and application of business process analysis methodologies

  • Previous Network Operations, Business Analysis, Systems Administration, Tech support, and/or Software Development experience.

The VCDR team within CPBU is the newest SaaS service offered by VMware, and it is key to several initiatives in the BU. A centralized cloud disaster recovery service is our starting point and over time we look to address a $10Bn TAM with several additional services. We are looking for an expert Staff Technical Program Manager to manage programs and collaborative projects in our team and manage service/product releases across multiple service and product lines. You will be joining the team at an exciting time and opportunity for growth. Job Description * Own the success of more than one SaaS service and one on-prem product lines. Drive the planning and execution of releases from concept to GA. Lead a delivery team of Product Managers, Engineering, QE and other functional teams to deliver throughout all the release phases. * Process-owner of anything that touches engineering (SDLC, Jira, Bugzilla, SFDC, product branching, etc). The key goal is to have just enough processes - going as fast as possible while preventing big mistakes is crucial. * Ensure PM/Eng interactions happen on backlog grooming, release planning, and communication of status. * Work with the engineering team to identify and remove cross product roadblocks early in planning phase. * Make constant assessment of feature pipeline, work done and work quality to support decision making on release delivery dates. * Drive and own product releases and feature reviews. Surface any issues in these realms. Be 2-in-a-box with eng leadership on all engineering projects. * Ensure release tasks beyond engineering are on track * Product branch * Docs, localization, etc. * test plans (QA + interop) * white papers * legal review (3rd party vendors, privacy, patents, etc.) * Security reviews * Ensure QA + Support have a "voice" in product requirements * Release manager * Manage extensive release runbook, service rollout/upgrades, and all deliverables for more than one SaaS service and one prem product * Ensure interop with other teams' releases * Work with support on roll-out plan, including on-prem transition from ACL > available to all criteria * BU Rep to Business Readiness group * Engineering representative to ensure that dependencies on other BUs and teams are tracked and are on track * Work with customer support, who are part of our engineering team. Escalation path to engineering from support (and any other team) if "normal" escalation channels fail for some reason. Ensure RCAs happen for escalations. * Drive service compliance activities in conjunction with VMW compliance teams Requirements * Degree in Computer Science, Business, Electrical Engineering, or related field. * 10+ years of experience running software engineering and project/program development management. Practical experience in Agile methodologies and in running cloud-based projects. * Practical experience program-managing Software-As-a-Service products and cloud-based services. Solid knowledge in cloud technologies and DevOps practices. * Experienced in software development and project/program management fundamentals (software development life cycle and quality processes, such as scoping, costs, schedules, deliverables, change and risk management, and mitigation). * Excellent oral/written communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
