Position Title Program Director, Paralegal Studies Position Number 896772 School/Division School of Law Department Hofstra Paralegal Studies Certificate Program Full-Time or Part-Time Full-Time Description

Reporting to the Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, the Program Director is responsible for day-to-day operations of the Law School's Paralegal Studies Certificate Program. The day-to-day operations of the program include program administration, student acquisition, student management, and student/faculty relations and service. The Director will collaborate with the Enrollment Management department, Associate Dean for Communications, Associate Dean for Academic Records and Registrar, and Senior Associate Dean for Finance and Administration. This is a full-time position and occasional evening and/or weekend hours may be expected as a part of the position

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Identifies and schedules course instructors with the Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.

  • Generates and manages course instructor contracts by obtaining instructor signatures each term.

  • Collaborates with Senior Associate Dean for Finance and Administration to hire new instructors.

  • Collaborates with the Associate Dean for Communications on program marketing efforts.

  • Manages program recruitment including: tracking and communicating with prospective program leads.

  • Assists with student's enrollment process as the primary contact with an enrollment recruiter/counselor.

  • Coordinates admissions and registration according to established guidelines.

  • Notifies students accordingly including: coordinating the review and approval of applications.

  • Oversees billing of the program, in collaboration with the Senior Associate Dean for Finance and Administration and Associate Director of Financial Aid.

  • Collaborates with Law School administrators to address all operational issues, policies, problems, and procedures associated with the program.

  • Monitors quality assurance controls, student evaluations and analysis, and reporting system.

  • Advises students on issues related to the administration of the program.

  • Acts as a liaison between students and various student services areas within the University.

  • Communicates annual academic calendar including admission and registration deadlines and certificate award requirements.

  • Collaborates with Law School administrators to design and implement online programming.

  • Collaborates with the Law School's Office of Career Services to establish and maintain relationships with the legal community to secure internships and job placement opportunities for Paralegal Studies program graduates.

  • Collaborates with the Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs to organize and execute all aspects of the American Bar Association recertification requirements.

  • Collaborates with the Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs to ensure the program's compliance with the policies of Hofstra University and the American Bar Association.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.

  • Minimum of five years (5) demonstrated administrative responsibility in education, non-profit or related organizations.

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with the proven ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

  • Must be collaborative, organized, and detail oriented.

  • Demonstrate outstanding computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Law degree or an advanced degree preferred.

Salary/Salary Range $85,000-$95,000

Hofstra University provides the above salary* as a good faith estimate of the starting pay range which considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and education.
