The Program Director of Nurse Aide I & II Programs and Health Education will market, schedule, and administer continuing education open enrollment and customized health courses recruit, hire, and train part-time instructors. The Program Director will be responsible for working with internal and external stakeholders to establish sustainable student recruitment for the program and to create a pipeline of candidates to help serve industry needs and establish Forsyth Tech as a leading program in the region. The Program Director has oversight over equipment and facilities, personnel, and financial responsibilities associated with the program. Includes instructional duties, budget oversight and long-term planning.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree or 5 years of experience in related field. Note: Degrees and hours must be from a college accredited by a United States Department of Education accepted accrediting agency such as SACSCOC.

  • At least two (2) years (4000 hours) of experience as a registered nurse in the United States with an unencumbered license.

  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensed to practice in North Carolina.

  • At least two (2) years (4000 hours) of experience as a registered nurse in the United States with an unencumbered license.

  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensed to practice in North Carolina.

  • At least one (1) year (2000 hours) of registered nurse experience in the provision of long-term care facility services in the United States demonstrated by:

  • working in a long-term care facility licensed as a skilled nursing facility or a skilled nursing facility which is a distinct part of a hospital, or

  • supervising or teaching students in a long-term care facility licensed as a skilled nursing facility or a skilled nursing facility which is a distinct part of a hospital.

  • Understand and committed to the unique nature and role of the College.

  • Experience with appropriate technology including Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace, spreadsheets, presentation and collaboration apps and software.

  • Ability to work in a diverse environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of health program accreditation and compliance polices.

Essential Duties

Supervision:

  • Supervise part-time and full-time instructors.

  • Set performance expectations, maintain performance standards, and conduct performance reviews of full-time staff.

  • Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate instructional personnel.

  • Ensure that personnel have adequate opportunity to participate in professional development activities and that personnel have the appropriate combination of degrees, certifications and experience.

Management of Instruction:

  • Maintain awareness of current and emerging trends in health care and guide the development and implementation of new programs and services responsive to the needs of constituents.

  • Develop and maintain a professional relationship with health care organizations, serving as a primary college contact to market customized continuing education courses and curriculum programs.

  • Assume responsibility for teaching assignments as recommended by the designated Program Coordinator.

  • Facilitate the learning process by designing and implementing instructional activities that are appropriate for Nursing Assistant I, Nursing Assistant II, Medication Aide, and Nursing Assistant Refresher courses.

  • Fulfill duties of class, clinical and/or lab instructor in supervision of students as applicable.

  • Maintain laboratory equipment inventory, order supplies and equipment for classroom and lab for all program sites.

  • Maintain equipment and facilities according to acceptable standards.

  • Assure the availability to program faculty of supplies, equipment, and instructional materials.

  • Administer continuing education open enrollment and customized health courses and the delivery of customized curriculum health programs.

  • Develop an annual schedule of open enrollment health and related courses in

  • collaboration with appropriate continuing education and curriculum representatives and as approved by the Practical Nursing Department.

  • Incorporate community service health related courses as part of open enrollment courses.

  • Utilize continuing education and curriculum instructional resources to develop and conduct customized programs and courses.

  • Oversee development of marketing materials, and directly market/promote courses and programs.

Administration:

  • Ensure that all programs are conducted according to NCCCS and Forsyth Tech policies and state audit criteria.

  • Maintain positive relationship with Department of Health and Human Services, the NC Board of Nursing and other agencies and ensure compliance of health programs.

  • Ensure that all program reports are completed in a timely and correct manner.

  • Administer program budgets and ensure that contracts, requisitions, and budget reports are accurate and completed according to policies and procedures.

  • Ensure that class visits are made according to the Forsyth Tech Class Visitation Policy.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Teamwork and Quality Management:

  • Serve as team leader responsible for integrating curriculum, continuing education and other college resources to effectively plan and implement health and health-related continuing education courses and curriculum programs.

  • Foster teamwork among college staff and faculty and community partners.

  • Continually evaluate and enhance the quality of programs, systems, and services. Treat others with professionalism and courtesy.

  • Regularly holds/attends faculty and staff meetings as required.

  • Attends divisional and college meetings as required.

Teaching and Learning:

  • Assume responsibility for assigning teaching assignments within the program.

  • Adheres to all requirements and polices of and maintains compliance with the Department of Health and Human Services, the NC Board of Nursing and other agencies and ensures compliance of health programs.

  • Facilitate the learning process by designing and implementing instructional activities that are appropriate and meaningful.

  • Order supplies and materials for labs supervised and prepares lab activities and assignments as needed.

  • Assume responsibility for maintaining all required college records including attendance and grade reports.

  • Ensure evaluation of student performance using methods appropriate to the programs.

Personnel:

  • Orient new instructors to job responsibilities and to the College's operations and policies.

  • Participate in interviews and recommend employment of full and part-time faculty.

  • Assist in employee evaluation through classroom visitation.

  • Assume responsibility for informing all program faculty about institutional policies.

  • Recruit credentialed and qualified part-time teachers for teaching assignments.

Contributions to Community:

  • Work as part of a cohesive, innovative, and diverse team that supports community partners.

  • Serve as a designated contact for continuing education programs.

  • Handle inquiries and requests for information from students and the public.
