Job Summary:

Leads and manages all aspects of radio station's on air experience including: talent, content, tone, programming, production, sound & theme, and online presence.


  • Directs and monitors programming activities in conformance with FCC rules and regulations, company policy, and applicable Federal, state, and local laws.

  • Partners with Market President and Sales in support of local and corporate business objectives to increase market share, listeners, ratings, and revenue while aligning programming fit with client, station, and audience.

  • Coordinates with Programming and Sales to plan and execute marketing, promotions, events, and image campaigns.

  • Determines and maintains creative vision for station(s) to enhance station image and visibility within the community.

  • Reviews and approves all commercial and paid programming content. Fields record label calls, schedules music, and checks social media to ensure music remains consistent with station's brand.

  • Collaborates with Production to enlist musical direction and seek options that meet editorial scope.

  • Establishes and maintains professional relationships with producers, artists' managers, composers and other industry contacts.

  • Identifies recruits, manages, and coaches On-Air Talent, Producers, News Reporters, etc. Schedules on-air shifts, remotes, and appearances.


  • Extensive knowledge of FCC broadcast rules and regulations; knowledge of federal, state and local contesting rules and regulations

  • Demonstrated ability to use tools to gather and analyze ratings data, make business decisions based on analysis; sound judgment and quality decision-making skills

  • Extensive knowledge of Diary data analysis; working knowledge of RCS products including GSelector and NexGen

  • Knowledge and appreciation of diverse music genres, excellent on-air performance, familiarity with radio programming

  • Excellent team leadership and delegation skills, including motivation of staff; can set goals & expectations, provide honest feedback and manage performance

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • High degree of planning and organizing skills; can multi-task and meet specific deadlines

  • Flexible, creative, and innovative in using technology to deepen listener relationships

  • Ability to think both tactically and strategically

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others

  • Superior oral and written communication skills; excellent grammar; can adjust communications style based on audience needs

  • Entrepreneurial and assertive in meeting goals

  • Ability to influence others, inspire innovation and ensure a client focus

Work Experience

  • Prior experience directing and managing a team

  • Experience with local formats preferred

  • Prior experience as a broadcaster, either in news, sports, or as a DJ preferred

  • Prior experience as a Program Director or Assistant Program Director preferred


  • 4-year college degree preferred

The Program Director joins CCRC at an exciting time, as the agency celebrates its 30th anniversary and experiences a continued rise in camper and staff retention, increased year-round engagement with families, and enhanced program development for campers and staff. Together with a team of talented individuals, the Program Director will help to implement camp's mission: to inspire campers and staff to grow as individuals and build Jewish communities through meaningful challenges and shared experiences. Our Program Director will employ strategic thinking and develop mutually respectful relationships with campers, parents, summer staff, and colleagues that, together, enable excellence to be achieved. Central to this position's success is the desire and drive to handle a variety of responsibilities, tackle a wide array of challenges, and participate in all aspects of camp's planning, operations and implementation. Agency Overview CCRC provides high quality Jewish overnight summer camp and year-round retreat programming to children, families and organizations, primarily from Washington D.C., Maryland and Virginia. The main office is located in Rockville, MD and the summer office/camp is located in Waynesboro, PA. CCRC is affiliated with the Jewish Community Center Association (JCCA), American Camp Association (ACA), The Foundation for Jewish Camp (FJC), JCamp 180 (a program of the Harold Grinspoon Foundation), Jewish Federation of Greater Washington (JFGW), and The Associated: Jewish Community Federation of Baltimore. Responsibilities (September-June) Coordinate camper recruitment events at local JCCs, synagogues, and other community venues Oversee the development of, manage, and maintain all summer program schedules to ensure the smooth operation of the day-to-day summer camp program Plan and implement events for campers, staff, families, and alumni including reunions, winter overnights, Family Camps, etc. for the purposes of engagement, retention, and recruitment. Procure supplies and other materials necessary for implementation of camp programs Liaise with community partners and visiting summer groups - planning the schedule, logistics and details for their visits Participate in regular strategy sessions with camp management team to identify and address ongoing areas of focus Develop meaningful trainings to prepare summer staff for their role as counselors, specialists, and leaders, drawing upon best practices in Jewish camp and in business Maintain awareness, knowledge and understanding of current societal trends, including Jewish camping, child development, social media, and customer service Responsibilities (June-August) Camp life moves very quickly. The Program Director can expect to be faced with a variety of complex situations simultaneously and must prioritize based on importance and urgency.
