Reports to: Division Director

Work Location: TBD - Coney Island

Status: Full Time - 35 hours per week

Hours: Monday-Friday Some evening hours/Saturday hours may be required

Salary Range: $80,000-$80,000

A Family Enrichment Center (FEC) is a family-centered, place-based primary prevention approach, where all members of the community have access to and may benefit from both structured or spontaneous activities and events (called offerings) that strengthen family protective factors to increase child and family well-being and promote stability. FEC offerings are available to everyone, regardless of current or past child welfare involvement.

The goal of the Family Enrichment Center (FEC) is to enhance child and family well-being by providing access and support to enable the strengthening of family protective factors inherent in its residents and community by building mutual community connections, capacity, and resilience.

In partnership with FEC staff, families will drive the planning, development, and sustainable co-ownership of the centers. Families who participate in the FEC programming will be encouraged to share their expertise by volunteering at the center and given meaningful opportunities to engage with neighbors and peers. The goal of the FEC is to strengthen families protective factors and build community connections, capacity, and resilience.

Responsibilities

The Program Director of the Family Enrichment Center has oversight of all services that support Families & Neighbors with the primary focus of making connections with people, motivating and inspiring them to achieve results. Poise and an engaging-empathetic communication style based on natural warmth and enthusiasm are the keys to achieving the collaborative FEC goals.

The FEC Director responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Responsible for the overall management and day-to-day operation of the FEC including, hiring and supervising staff;

  • Provide support to the Advisory Committee and other community members to assist them in fulfilling their leadership roles.

  • Cultivate relationships with other organizations to collaborate on community needs and services, and creating a warm and welcoming gathering place where any community resident can go for family support, information and services

  • Build partnerships with stakeholders from multiple sectors, including community members, public officials, and public and private organizations to motivate and inspire collaboration

  • Attend public forums, including community board meetings, and communicate with public officials to highlight the needs of the FEC community and raise awareness about and support for the work of the FEC.

  • Serve as a spokesperson for the FEC and support community members and staff to be the same.

  • Maintain a poised and engaging, empathetic communication style based on natural warmth and enthusiasm.

  • Use a relationship-based approach to hiring, supervising, coordinating, managing, and working collaboratively with diverse staff members.

  • Manage a coaching plan to ensure that FEC staff are experts in the protective factors.

  • Will take active steps to recruit volunteers and ensure that they are valued members of the team.

  • Responsible for using data to inform and improve implementation of the FEC model.

Qualifications

  • Masters Degree preferred; must have Five years of professional experience; or a bachelors degree and seven (7) years of professional experience

  • Successful experience should be in a leadership position managing community organizing and/or community-driven programs.

  • Knowledgeable Government Assistance Programs

  • Strong communication and organizational skills; great attention to detail

  • Ability to trouble-shoot complex issues

  • Proven ability to work with a range of people from diverse backgrounds and circumstances

  • Maintain client and staff confidentiality

  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel, Gmail, etc.)

  • Bilingual skills in Spanish, Russian, Mandarin or Arabic a plus

  • Previous work experience in a social service agency or non-profit organization

  • Interest in working with underserved populations.

  • Familiarity electronic data records systems
