Job Description

The School of Architecture and Design (SoAD) at Wentworth Institute of Technology invites applications for a full-time Program Director position for the BS in Interior Design and BS in Industrial Design programs. Additionally, the new Program Director will collaborate in the development of a new BS in Digital Design program.

Faculty rank is negotiable, based on qualifications and experience. The position includes a comprehensive benefits package and competitive salary.

Responsibilities

Together with the program faculty and School administration, the program director works for the advancement of the school and shares responsibility for improving education and fostering outstanding student learning experiences within the program. Reporting directly to the Dean, the program director (PD) serves as the leader of the program and its curriculum, including accreditation and program assessment, development and review, scheduling, curricular and course development/review, planning and generating content for marketing, student recruitment, retention and success, and developing and achieving annual goals/objectives. The PD will also be a liaison on behalf of the program with other university offices, such as registrar, marketing and Coops+Careers office.

The Program Director teaches 2-3 courses (10-12 credits) per academic year (Fall and Spring semesters).

Essential Functions of the Position:

Teaching (30%)

Student success and affairs (30%)

Support students enrolled in academic programs and related events. Coordinate and support advising of students in collaboration with Success Studio, Coops+Careers, and faculty advisors.

Manage the faculty advisor list with Success Studio for the Dean's review and provide support on faculty advising, student issues, and registration procedures. Process and manage transfer credits, admissions, and students' transition to the program. Support student recruitment, admission, and retention activities.

Academic AFFAIRS (30%)

Support University's commitment to continuous quality improvement, including curriculum enhancement, course-learning outcomes, and student outcomes. Work with program faculty and curriculum committee chair on curricular development, new programs, academic standards, accreditation, enrollment, policies, and procedures.

Manage assessment data, annual programmatic evaluation, and programmatic accreditation process, and disseminate results of assessments regularly with key program stakeholders. Provide guidance, coordination, and long-term planning for programmatic assessment and implementation of related institutional strategies. Assist with course scheduling and faculty teaching assignments.

Assist with the adjunct faculty hiring and onboarding. Lead program meetings for program, faculty, and student updates. Organize program curricular events and IPAC meetings. Provide support in faculty professional development activities.

Other Duties (10%)

Coordinate updating the program website and social media. Participate in strategic planning activities.

Assist in developing the program budget. School and Institution Committee Leadership/Membership responsibilities as assigned. Execute other relevant duties and functions based on School needs as assigned by the Dean.

Minimum Education Required: Master's degree

Preferred Education: Doctoral degree

Minimum Work Experience Required: 3 - 5 years

Preferred Work Experience Required: 5 - 8 years

Minimum knowledge required:

Comprehensive knowledge of theories, concepts and practices and ability to use in complex, difficult and/or unprecedented situations.
