Project located in Eastern North Carolina. Staff may work remotely and must be willing to travel extensively in Eastern North Carolina within nine counties including:

Craven, Edgecombe, Halifax, Hertford, Martin, Nash, and Pitt. Valid NC driver's license required. Some national conference and overnight travel required as well. Occasional non-traditional work hours required.

  • Eastern North Carolina Health Equity for Adolescent Lives (ENC-HEAL). Overall project goals are to: Improve sexual and reproductive health outcomes, promote positive youth development and advance health equity for adolescents, their families and communities through the replication of medically accurate and age-appropriate evidence-based teen pregnancy prevention programs (EBPs) and services.

Plan, develop, coordinate, direct, and implement a variety of programs and events for the ENC-HEAL program. Responsible for supervision and implementation of dissemination of the ENC-HEAL program in various community settings.

Provide administrative direction to ENC-HEAL to include managing and coordinating administration, programs such as program implementation, Community Connect Events, publications, and special conferences or other events to ensure fulfillment of the program objectives. Develop a shared vision among program partners, community leaders, and school personnel to enhance the future of the youth in the project communities.

Applicants must be comfortable and enjoy engaging with youth in multiple settings including: juvenile justice, foster care, community-based programs and school- based programs.

Work Performed

(45%) Direct, plan, and implement programmatic components of ENC-HEAL, including Evidence-Based Program (EBP) implementation, developing protocols and operating policies and overseeing specific procedures. Planning includes all details, from planning with Health Education Specialists and other members of the ENC-HEAL team ensuring all intervention aspects are implemented according to standard protocols.

This requires travel to implement EBPs, and may also include reviewing program content and schedules, evaluations, and preparation of related reports to funders. It also includes ensuring all tracking systems are utilized and correct for all implementation activities. Coordinate and participate in meetings with ENC-HEAL team members to determine objectives of the program and to identify internal and external resources available to meet those objectives.

(20%) Coordinate and oversee scheduling and logistics for ENC-HEAL programs such as EBP implementation, Community Advisory Council meetings, and Community Connect Events including inviting appropriate attendees or other participants, arranging schedules, facilities, and publicity and ensuring necessary financial arrangements.

(5%) Oversee preparation of brochures, bulletins and other publications to describe the program's goals, and events such as Community Advisory Council and Community Connect Events; publish, develop and implement other communications vehicles such as newsletters to include compiling news and educational articles of local interest; write and edit text and coordinate distribution.

(5%) Maintain liaison with outside educational and professional organizations and agencies within the ENC-HEAL catchment area of Eastern North Carolina to explore implementation of ENC-HEAL activities and to encourage participation in specified programs.

(5%) Coordinate with other ENC-HEAL staff the compilation of and prepare operational and financial reports for funding from Office of Population Affairs (OPA) and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions.

(5%) Correspond with interested students and other universities to provide information concerning activities, policies and procedures of the program. Prepare budgetary recommendations for fiscal year requirements; monitor, verify and reconcile expenditure of budgeted funds.

(15%) Hire, train and supervise staff necessary to implement ENC-HEAL programs throughout the 7-county program region. Make work assignments and review the work of employees; assist in training of new personnel related to policies and procedures of program, diversity and equity, outreach and communication with the community.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

OR ANY OTHER EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.

Skills

  • Must be computer literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Meister Task and capability to learn new data management programs.

  • Experience supervising multiple individuals.

  • Strong instructional and training skills required.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to work independently and as a team member.

  • Ability to manage time efficiently and meet deadlines. Independent and creative thinker.
