MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree, plus five (5) years of administrative experience in the area of business, marketing, social sciences, visual arts, literary or performing arts, events programming, grantmaking, or arts administration of which two (2) years are in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience, provided that the minimum degree requirement is met

Equivalencies: Master's Degree or Doctorate plus four years of experience of which two years are in a supervisory role

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS

This position requires applicants to complete an interview which will include a written exercise as part of the interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position, based on the oral and written parts of the interview will be selected

Preference will be given to candidates possessing the following:

  • Proficiency in grant writing, grants administration, fundraising, and development
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, English and/or Journalism; Business Administration or Public Administration; or Dance, Music, Theatre, Visual Art, and/or Arts Administration
  • Experience working in the arts and culture or events industry (i.e. Community Arts Organizations, Museums, Theaters, Music and Dance Venues, Festivals)
  • Experience working in government settings and/or with government agencies

Knowledge: Considerable knowledge of departmental activities, policies, and programs. Knowledge of principles and practices of grant writing and grants management. Knowledge of corporate, foundation, state, and federal grant makers.

Abilities: Ability to prepare successful and complex grant applications and reports. Ability to establish and meet deadlines and schedules. Ability to plan, assign, and review the work of direct reports. Ability to work effectively in partnership with people of diverse backgrounds. Ability to write and speak Spanish fluently.

Skills: Considerable skill in oral and written communication, research and organization, attention to detail, and financial reporting and monitoring expenses.

Other requirements: Able to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and some holidays.

Working Conditions: Work indoors and occasionally outdoors in extreme weather conditions and noise. General office environment, using standard office equipment.
