The Autism Support Program at West Virginia University is currently seeking applications for a Program Coordinator.

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Program Director of the Autism Support Program, this position provides assistance in implementing and coordinating services offered through the WVU Autism Support Program, the mission of which is to support WVU students on the Autism Spectrum through services that address academic, social, executive functioning and independent living skills as well as transitional supports to college and to career.

What You'll Do:

Assisting with Administrative responsibilities:

  • Program Evaluation: Assist the Program Director with record keeping by imputing data into record keeping system and assisting the Program Director with semester progress reports. Assist the Program Director with weekly Peer Mentor forms and imputing data.

  • Outreach/Recruitment: Attend outreach/recruitment events as needed to support the Program Director this includes but is not limited to tabling events on/off campus and events put on by or with WVU ASP.

  • Application Management: Assist the program director in inputting application and forms information into record keeping system including but not limited to Media Releases, WVU ASP Contract, Release of Information.

  • Training: Assist the program director in training Peer Mentors and student workers/coaches.

Provide direct service support to students on the Autism Spectrum in the following areas:

  • Student Support:

  • Provide individual support and interventions to/for students in Academics, Executive Functioning, Social, Transition and Independent Living Skills.

  • Assist Program Director in teaching, developing, and evaluating Weekly Skills Workshop.

  • Assist Program Director in facilitating and implementing Goal Sessions, Peer Groups and Social Events/Activities.

  • Assist Program Director in facilitating weekly 1:1 check-in meeting and monitoring weekly student progress.

  • Develop individualized supports/interventions for students including but not limited to calendars, assignment trackers, visual aids, custom presentations for goals.

  • Monitor weekly assignment tracker progress for students.

  • Attend monthly/semester progress meetings with Program Director.

Referral/Advocacy Resources

  • Works closely with Program Director and team to establish and implement seamless referral and communication process for students seeking services across campus.

  • Assist Program Director with making referrals to appropriate departments and resources within and outside of West Virginia University.

  • Master's Degree in Clinical, Counseling or School Psychology, Education, Social Work or related Human Service field.

  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience working with a neurodiverse college age population.

  • Knowledge, skills, and expertise required to proficiently conduct, document, and evaluate academic, social, and executive functioning support services with a neurodiverse college-aged population.

  • Knowledge, skills, and expertise required to provide multiculturally-sensitive services.

  • Ability to utilize electronic record system.

  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills required to develop and maintain policies, procedures, and clinical delivery systems.

  • Team player to work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary unit.
