Located with the Office of the Secretary of Interior, OJS, Missing and Murdered in Billings, Montana and Vancouver, Washington, OJS is seeking a Victim Assistance Program Coordinator who will help develop and implement a Victim Assistance Program (VAP) that includes promoting and identifying the rights of victims, providing direct services to crime victims, and promoting a comprehensive VAP that supports the Missing and Murdered Unit (MMU).
Amended to extend closing date to May 6, 2024.
Designs, plans, and directs the dissemination of information pertinent to various victim protection laws, BIA-OJS policy and programs on victim related matters, and other relevant victim services.
Develops and maintains a library of resource materials for use by victims, witnesses, community organizations, and within BIA-OJS. Develops the written verbiage for brochures and other outreach material where there is a lack of pertinent literature, or existing literature that is not fully appropriate to the BIA-OJS MMU Victim Assistance needs.
Speaks to public, civic, industry, and special interest groups about victim's issues to publicize Federal efforts to develop and improve programs and efforts to promote interest and support for victims at the local level.
Serves as the BIA-OJS MMU Victim Assistance representative and expert on local, tribal, state, and national task forces, committees, and working groups regarding victim related issues.
Reviews literature on victim issues, analyzing changes in legislation, case law, court rules, Department of Justice policies, and other issues of direct relevance to the BIA-OJS MMU VA.
Obtains services and assistance for victims through specific Federal programs and funds such as the BIA's Victim Assistance Funds. Coordinates with various law enforcement agencies as needed to assist victims.
Provides authoritative advice and guidance to the BIA-OJS.
Develops and provides training materials, information, and resources to BIA-OJS MMU VA and other Bureaus; Assistant U.S. Attorneys; support staff; staff of Federal agencies; state, local, and tribal law enforcement; and community service providers.

The full performance level of this position is GS-12.
