The Unit Program Coordinator is responsible for the clerical, administrative and technical management of the unit psychosocial program. Duties include oversight of program implementation, coordinated activity of unit treatment personnel, and efficient use of resources for recommendations to the Clinical Treatment Team.

Prepares routine and special reports regarding patient programming, recovery goals, patient program progress, and monitors patient participation. Compiles statistical data and written summaries of activities to provide input to the team at the time of treatment/program review and enters information in a timely manner. Works with the Treatment Team in transcribing the initial recovery plan and all reviews.

Provides administrative assistance to the unit Social Workers and Psychologist. Works under the direct supervision of the Psychology Clerical Supervisor.

Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor to ensure efficient operation of the patient care unit. Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation.

Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location. Essential Job Functions:

1: Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.

2: Transcribes recovery plans developed by the case managers into the patient record.

3: Provides backup for the unit medical records clerk including preparing, faxing/mailing furlough/discharge packets to aftercare providers, filing documents in open records, ordering supplies, completing daily treatment team rosters, movement log and other unit clerical tasks.

4: Keeps group leaders' attendance rosters current while monitoring patient program participation to compile statistical data and written summaries concerning unit activities to provide input to the Team

5: Serves as Credit Cardholder to assist in the efficiency of the purchasing patient supplies that are not available through MIMS.

6: Assists in maintaining the therapeutic milieu of unit while working with individuals who display the inability to control their aggressive /self-destructive impulses.

7: Makes referrals to Rehab Day Programs for the unit.

8: Maintains current in all required training.

9: Other duties as assigned included but not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation.

1: Ability to organize, prioritize assignments, and develop work plans, coordinate administrative assignments, and adhere to strict deadlines.

2: Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and with interruptions.

3: Skill in the use of computer and related equipment, including the use of Microsoft Office programs and the patient electronic medical record.

4: Knowledge of office procedures; spelling, punctuation, grammar, and arithmetic, and of business or program terminology, methods, and systems.

5: Ability to prepare and maintain confidential files, records, and reports.

6: Ability to interact with people in the organization to build constructive and effective relationships in a positive manner.

7: Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to maintain effective working relationships with others. Registration or Licensure Requirements:

None Initial Selection Criteria:

1.Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent.

2.Experience in rehabilitation and/or as a mental health worker. Additional Information:

Applicants must pass a fingerprint criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen, and registry checks including the Client Abuse/Neglect Reporting System (CANRS), Nurse Aide, Medication Aide and Employee Misconduct, and HHS OIG list of Excluded Individuals/Entities. Males between the ages of 18-25 must be registered with the Selective Service.

All applicants must be at least 18 years of age to be considered for employment at a state-operated facility. Waco Center for Youth applicants must be at least 21 years of age.

Flexibility in work hours may be required for this position. The position may be required to work overtime and/or extended hours. Occasional other shift and weekend work is required along with rotating holidays.

Compliance with HHSC immunization policy and state hospital operating procedures related to immunizations is required. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, healthcare workers are considered to be at significant risk for acquiring or transmitting hepatitis B, measles, mumps, rubella, varicella (chicken pox), tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis (whooping cough), and influenza.

All these diseases are vaccine preventable. As a result, state hospital policy requires

employees be vaccinated according to their level of contact with individuals. In the event you choose to not be immunized for the influenza virus, you may be required to wear a mask and take other protective measures.
