This position works usual hours, typically Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm.
There are times when evening/weekend hours are required during program events and student incidents or emergencies.

General Description: The Community College Initiative Program Coordinator (PC) is responsible for the development and management of academic and socio/cultural immersion activities for a group of 14 to 18 international exchange students. This position is a full-time restricted position with the possibility of renewal, contingent on availability of funding.
This position will oversee and manage the programming and administrative responsibilities for the CCI cohort at the Alexandria campus.
Duties and Tasks:
Manage and implement a year-long academic and cultural program for CCI international exchange participants
Develop and implement a pre-academic orientation program for students
Manage the allocated budget for the cohort
Address interpersonal conflicts
Occasionally provide transportation and act as an emergency contact
Organize regular U.S. CSI excursions to facilitate learning about host communities
Special Assignments:
May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications
KSA's:
Knowledge of higher education institutional practices
Ability to work with independently with minimal supervision
Ability to work on multiple priorities from multiple stakeholders with tight deadlines
Knowledge of what is available to students/staff at NOVA, within and outside the region
Must be able and willing to travel for program events
Must be willing and able to serve as a 24/7 emergency contact for students
Must be willing and able to drive a 14-passenger van
Required Qualifications:
Experience advising and working with college students, international students and/or youth
Experience in the administration of activities with youth groups
Event planning experience
Experience working with and understanding of diverse groups of various cultural backgrounds
Experience in organization of educational/cultural events and field trips

Experience studying/working/living abroad
Knowledge of another language (Spanish, Arabic, Hindi, Portuguese)
Experience working within a community college
Experience with federally funded programs and grants
Operation of a State Vehicle No Supervises Employees No Required Travel
