The Chan Zuckerberg Biohub supports scientific research to cure, prevent or manage disease in our childrens lifetime. Our mission is to understand the fundamental mechanisms underlying disease and to develop new technologies which will lead to actionable diagnostics and effective therapies. We harness the power and possibility of collaboration to drive discovery and set the standard for open, impactful science. For more information, please visit czbiohub.org.
Opportunity
The Biohub has an intramural research program with 17 groups focused on technology development, cell biology (the Cell Atlas Initiative), and infectious disease, and an extramural research program that provides unrestricted funding to approximately 100 faculty members at our three partner universities (Biohub Investigators) to pursue their most exciting, risky, and innovative ideas. Our Biohub investigators are drawn from a diverse range of disciplines, including fundamental and clinical biomedical sciences, the physical sciences, engineering, computer science, statistics, and chemical biology.
In addition to our intramural research and the extramural Biohub Investigator program, the Biohub has just launched a new Physician-Scientist Fellowship program with the goal of providing physicians-in-training at Stanford and UCSF with a new track that will allow them to gain experience in lab or computational research. Fellows will have the opportunity to conduct biomedical research for 2236 months in the laboratory of a faculty mentor at one of CZ Biohub's three collaborating campuses or in one of the intramural research labs at CZ Biohub. Eligibility is limited to MDs who do not have and are not pursuing a Ph.D. and are currently enrolled full-time in a medical residency or clinical fellowship program at Stanford or UCSF. In addition to providing research experience and mentoring, the program will include a curriculum taught in a peer-to-peer fashion, with additional invited speakers, focused on biomedical and clinical research topics selected by the fellows, as well as topics such as manuscript and grant writing, lab administration, career development, and ethics.
We are seeking to hire a Program Coordinator / Program Manager to help with the development and management of the Physician-Scientist Fellowship program and to assist with the administration of the Biohub Investigator program. The successful applicant will be based full-time at Biohub, as well as meeting with administrative counterparts at Stanford, UCSF, and UC Berkeley. A key part of the role includes establishing ongoing relationships with the program directors for the residency and clinical fellowship programs at Stanford and UCSF to facilitate coordination, information sharing, and problem solving regarding Fellows currently in the CZ Biohub Physician-Scientist Fellowship program, in preparation for future competitions to select new Fellows, and during the review and onboarding of new Fellows. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management and administration of the Fellowship program, as detailed below, and will assist with routine administration and special projects for the Biohub Investigator Program. You will also work closely with the Co-Directors of the CZ Biohub Physician-Scientist Fellowship program to help with the planning, implementation, and refinement of the curriculum for the program.
