Job Summary

Purdue University seeks an enthusiastic student affairs and learning assistance professional to join the Helen Bass Williams Academic Success Center team in supporting students and their academic goals. This program coordinator position is charged with developing their assigned programmatic area (Ambassadors and Accountability Groups) to provide students with various opportunities to enhance their academic success strategies and skills. Additionally, this position will work with the ASC team to assist in the general responsibilities of the ASC, which may include supporting the efforts of the other ASC programs and services and guiding collateral projects for ASC graduate assistants (GA).

The pay range for this position is $45,000-$47,000.

Duties and Responsibilities

Assigned Programmatic Area: Ambassadors and Accountability Groups Focus

  • Supervise the Student Office Ambassador (SOA) position and manage front desk operations

  • facilitate the recruitment, selection, and evaluation of SOAs and a senior SOA

  • coordinate pre-semester training and on-going (biweekly) training based on the ASC student leader competencies

  • maintain and update front desk procedures and operations

  • advise committees of SOAs for outreach, social media, and other special projects

  • Coordinate the Accountability Groups program including:

  • Marketing to program to students and stakeholders

  • Organizing logistics including scheduling, interest/intake form management, group placement, and documentation

  • Update program based on assessment and feedback

  • Develop and lead trainings on group facilitation for SOAs

  • Organize communication and outreach efforts including but not limited to:

  • coordinate content development with creativity and within branding guidelines

  • produce the ASC internal Newsletter, the Williams' Writer, 3-4 times a semester

  • Send campus partner update communications on behalf of the center

  • Organize tabling efforts, both requests and center-initiated events

  • Lead the ASC social media process (calendaring, strategy, delegation, and approval)

  • Contribute to other ASC programming areas as needed, including various programming logistics and scheduling needs; supporting academic consultations; directing collateral projects for ASC GAs

  • Assist ASC leadership in planning and executing tasks including: provide targeted academic support; promote academic success through strategic use of resources; collaborate with campus partners to strengthen efforts; contribute to graduate assistant training and development; and support efforts of Student Success Programs department

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in higher education administration, college student affairs, counseling, education, or other relevant discipline
  • 2 years of experience in areas of advising, teaching, coaching, and/or other forms of academic assistance, student support, and/or program development (consideration will be given to two years of undergraduate or graduate work in these same areas)

Preferred:

  • Master's Degree in higher education administration, college student affairs, counseling, education, or other relevant discipline

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Prior experience in higher education; experience with peer learning programs

  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to quickly learn online systems and software (EAB Navigate/BoilerConnect; Qualtrics; Microsoft Office; Cascade, etc.) and efficiently manage systems at a proficient level

  • Ability to facilitate student learning in individual, small group, classroom, and virtual settings

  • Ability to represent the values of the ASC, Student Success Programs, and university to internal and external stakeholders

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Demonstrated understanding of and appreciation for inclusion, including ability to work with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds and identities

  • Ability to think quickly and creatively in problem-solving and planning

  • Ability to work some nights and weekends that are occasionally
