General Statement:

The Coordinator for the Mid-Hudson Traffic Safety Institute is responsible for the day to day administration and program coordination of non-credit programs and project grants related to Highway Safety and Injury Prevention. The Coordinator is responsible for all related grants and their deliverables. Duties include designing, grant writing, reporting, staffing, monitoring, evaluating facilitating and promoting highway and traffic safety/injury prevention courses with businesses and community organizations. The position is currently completely grant funded. The Coordinator: Mid-Hudson Traffic Safety Institute will report to the Vice President for Workforce, Economic Development, and Community Partnerships. Employment of position is based on Grant Fund availability.

Examples of Work performed:

  • Procure grant funding for Comprehensive Community Traffic Safety Programming. This includes all aspects of grant writing, negotiation, reporting, and implementation of deliverables.

  • Promote and coordinate Traffic Safety Education and risk reduction through community programs.

  • Develop, schedule, and promote appropriate programs including SUNY Ulster's Driver Education Program.

  • Assess business/industry and community agency needs for risk reduction and injury prevention programming.

  • Research and identify high risk groups/behaviors and apply best practices in these areas.

  • Establish and maintain data bank of resources and partners.

  • Produce, obtain, keep inventory of and distribute flyers, brochures and other related educational or promotional materials for injury prevention programs.

  • Develop or obtain curriculum for all programs as needed.

  • Assist the Traffic Safety Boards locally and at the State level in completion of their goals.

  • Conduct appropriate train the trainer seminars

  • Assist with the Annual Conferences in the State and Region as appropriate.

  • Attend related trainings and seminars and webinars.

  • Evaluate courses, instruction and overall program effectiveness.

  • Monitor fulfillment of program and grant requirements where indicated.

  • Work within budget and oversee grant funds, purchases, etc

  • Work with and submit budget modifications and required grant reports to local, state and federal agencies.

  • Develop partnerships with community agencies, business and municipalities.

Minimum qualifications:

Two or more years of experience in project management, higher education, community development, or human services. Good writing and presentation skills. Ability to utilize and analyze data. Experience related to community safety training is a plus.

Salary:

Salary is $28.19 an hour. All positions are contingent upon adequate funding.
