Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Program Coordinator II for the Center for Advanced Infrastructure and Transportation (CAIT) within the School of Engineering. Reporting directly to the Project Manager-Workplace & Career Development at CAIT this grant-funded position plans, manages and delivers programs, projects, and services to the Employment Development programs for at-risk and justice-impacted young people and adults.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Coordinates execution and monitors participant progress within the workforce readiness projects to address and reduce barriers to education completion and career development.

  • Responsible for the intake, assessment, referrals, and overall case management and tracking of youth and adults enrolled with CAIT's Employment Success Program.

  • Assists in managing the database including data entry and management program, coordinating initial intake, subsequent referrals and service planning, and benchmark reporting.

  • Arranges and coordinates logistics and assists with quality assurance relating to the content of program, events, training workshops, and meetings.

  • Acts as liaison between CAIT and external community service providers, including schools, courts and justice personnel, partner social service organizations, workshop trainers, and employers.

  • Meets regularly with Senior Program Coordinators and Project Manager of Employment Success Program to shape projects, discuss issues, and evaluate project outcomes.

  • Demonstrates a good understanding of the mission, vision, role and goals of Employment Success, CAIT, School of Engineering, and Rutgers University.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of program coordination, organization, facilitation, report analysis, writing, and promotion/outreach.

Certifications/Licenses

  • Use of personal vehicle to travel for business demands; a valid driver's license would be required for this position.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Requires good communication skills and computer literacy.

  • Ability to engage and interact with justice impacted young people in their home communities and programs.

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-pace, high-pressure environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred knowledge of the Juvenile Justice System, the adult probation system, Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act, Division of Children and Families, New Jersey High School Graduation requirements, and child labor laws.

  • Preferred experience with technical report writing and associated case management recordkeeping.

  • Preferred 2 years' experience with working with at-risk youth and/or vulnerable adults (i.e. mentoring, counseling, program development) and experience with client-level data tracking and outcome evaluation.

  • Ability to communicate fluently in English and Spanish with participants and families strongly preferred.

  • Experience and proficiency in strengths-based trauma-informed approach to working with young people and adults.

Equipment Utilized

  • All Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project.

  • Social media and communication applications including Canva, Linktree, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Tiktok.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Travel to offsite meetings is required (Rutgers does not control the accessibility of non Rutgers locations, but the majority of meeting sites are at University and State / County /Local government buildings that offer access ramps, elevators, etc. to assist those with mobility limitations).

  • No specific dress code is defined, but this position is expected to dress professionally for meetings with internal and external clients.

  • Ability to lift 40 lbs.
