Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $17.50 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).

This temporary position will be assigned to the Department of Transportation. This position is located at 1421 New Bern Ave., Raleigh, NC 27610.

  • License & Theft Bureau / Dealer Unit. This position will be responsible for processing applications, maintain records and files and expediting the processing and issuance of licenses, plates, and documents necessary for motor vehicle dealers and salesmen to be licensed. This position is responsible for providing quality customer service and accurate information to customers in-person, by telephone and/or through electronic means. Additionally, this position is responsible for responding to questions and complaints by researching and providing a resolution to the situation. This position is responsible for citing statutory requirements and providing interpretations of the North Carolina laws, codes and agency policies that govern dealer licensing. This position shall assign the plate inventory for the Unit and complete the daily deposit.

The program area for this position includes one or more of the following:  working knowledge of the license plate issuance process, DMV customer service, and/or working knowledge of statutory requirements related to dealer licensing.

  • Working knowledge of standard office equipment including, but not limited to, computers, printers, telephones, fax machines, scanners, teller scan bank systems, calculators, and copiers.

  • Experience interpreting and/or explaining policies, procedures, and laws to a diverse clientele.

  • Experience communicating effectively both orally and in written form.

  • Demonstrated ability to independently review information, make decisions, and perform tasks.

  • Knowledge administrative codes, and North Carolina General Statutes, as it relates to dealer rules and regulations.

  • Experience responding and resolving various customer service issues
