The Outreach & Education Program of the Environmental & Occupational Health Division works with individuals, community groups, small businesses, and others to provide education, technical assistance, connection to resources, and other supports to prevent or eliminate adverse health impacts from environmental factors at home, work, school, and in public spaces. The Coordinator advances the Division's efforts to meet the BPHC mission by working with Division Inspectors to provide case management services and connection to resources for clients dealing with lead poisoning and other environmental hazards in their homes, workplaces, and public spaces. The Program Coordinator also plays a central role in development of educational materials and conducting community outreach and education
efforts such as representing the Division at community events or leading classroom trainings. The Program Coordinator may also produce project and ongoing activity reports and support record keeping by Outreach & Education staff.
DUTIES
follow-up, etc. Cases managed will include, but are not limited to, cases of lead-poisoned children and enforcement of the MA Lead Law, home environmental quality complaints such as mold and pest infestation, and unhealthy workplace environmental conditions.
Coordinates, monitors, develops and implements projects and/or initiatives for assigned BPHC program/department.
Coordinates and monitors program activities to ensure effective operations and compliance with established standards and/or contracted goals & objectives.
Provides technical assistance and advice to clients, staff, and others; responds to inquiries and maintains liaison with various external agencies to provide information concerning program.
Seeks out and develops good working relationships with internal colleagues and external partners. Collaborates with various private, state, local and federal agencies, NHC's, and CBOs to further the work of EOH, exchange information, and/or resolve problems. Represents BPHC and program at meetings, health fairs, and conferences.
Conducts classroom-style training sessions on environmental health topics including (but not limited to) lead exposure risks, moderate risk deleading practices, bloodborne pathogens and body art, and indoor air quality.
Coordinates activities which may include case management documentation; assisting with grant writing; report preparation and writing; and assisting with developing and distributing communications, brochures and educational materials. Assists Program Manager with administrative, data management, and reporting tasks.
Ensures accurate, legible, and current documentation is kept on all outreach and client interactions; including use of computerized case management data systems, production of written case reports, and participation in routine case review sessions.
Delivers services according to established program protocol.
May supervise employees.
Performs other duties as required.
