Job Summary:

The Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University is home to the Center for Market Leadership (CML), which focuses on how organizations can better understand the role of customers to drive innovation and growth. The Center achieves its mission through three primary strategies: interdisciplinary research, executive education, and conferences with corporate partners. The Center sponsors the annual Kellogg Marketing Leadership Summit, which hosts over 100 prominent senior executives, Kellogg faculty, and thought leaders from McKinsey & Co and Egon Zehnder and is viewed as one of Kellogg's signature programs.

Reporting to the Faculty Director, the Program Coordinator, CML, provides high-level administrative support and customer service to both internal/external partners including faculty, researchers, and visitors. This position is primarily responsible for supporting the planning for the Kellogg Marketing Leadership Summit, including event planning, coordination, execution, and evaluation. In addition, this role is responsible for specialized support and project management of select Center initiatives, as needed.

Specific Responsibilities:

Administration

  • Supports the day to day operations of the Center for Marketing Leadership.

  • Ensures that program/project mission, values, guidelines, policies & procedures are implemented & maintained.

  • Creates the design and development of program databases; compiles & analyzes data; prepares reports.

  • Identifies service improvement opportunities that will better enable program/project to achieve its goals and objectives.

Budgets & Financial

  • Participates in budget preparation.

  • Maintains budget & associated analysis & reports.

  • Enters individual &/or summary of transactions into journals &/or general ledger or other NU enterprise system.

  • Reviews; ensures approval based on alternatives regarding practice & policy; analyzes and classifies transactions in accordance with established chart or coding of accounts; creates new accounts; prepares, processes, reconciles & provides receipts (as appropriate) for transactions.

  • Processes transfer &/or appropriation charges & may balance &/or close accounts.

  • Troubleshoots problems; performs vendor/account research as needed; obtains additional information or provides instruction & guidance by phone, US- or e- mail from customers/vendors; corrects or escalates.

Communication, Outreach & Recruitment

  • Develops coordinated, consistent marketing and brand messages.

  • Creates state-of-the-art website for the Summit.

  • Incorporates social media and networking into program/project aspects as appropriate.

  • Strengthens partnerships with external resources by defining, promoting and marketing benefits of participation and involvement to the organization.

  • Nurtures relationships with organizations to develop a network of enthusiastic organizations engaged via active participation in the success of program/project.

  • Reviews market trends to recommend plans to increase participation and engagement

Evaluation

  • Observes program events and interacts with participants to gain consumer insight, grow and strengthen program knowledge, and optimize participant satisfaction.

  • Coordinates the collection, analysis & reporting of required information for surveys, review documents, etc.

  • Analyzes evaluation data from participants to assist in program/project development and updates.

  • Proposes corrective actions required as a result of surveys or other indicators.

Events

  • Coordinates the Summit programming, from pre-planning, planning, execution through post-analysis.

  • Engages with school partners to conduct the kick-off meeting and capture scope of conference and objectives, develop project plan and budget.

  • Ensures that event details including communications, venues, presenters, attendee list, travel arrangements, materials, refreshments, and technology are arranged and completed appropriately and timely.

Faculty Support

  • Arranges conference & seminar coordination, & faculty travel planning.

  • Supports faculty in event and program management.

Program Development

  • Supports CML sponsored program/project seminars, presentations, workshops, learning experiences, chat rooms, websites, social networking, etc. based on goals/objectives.

  • Identifies & obtains external expertise as needed and works with content experts for current and new programs.

  • Coordinates speaker selection, communication, and topic development.

  • Leads program/project updates and improvements.

Minimum Qualifications: (Education, experience, and any other certifications or clearances)

  • Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
  • 1 year program/project administration or other relevant experience.

Target hiring range for this position will be between $50,000 - $60,000 per year. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
