PROGRAM COORDINATOR

The County of San Diego is currently accepting job applications for Program Coordinator with current vacancies in the Department of Public Works (DPW), in the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) and the

Program Coordinators are responsible for providing administrative, analytical, planning, and management support for programs, projects, and facilities where substantive administrative, policy, and/or technical issues require specialized analysis, recommendation, and implementation. The Positions

The position assigned to the CIP is responsible for coordinating the planning, budget, design, environmental clearance and permitting, right-of-way acquisition, and utility coordination for a wide variety of capital projects, including road, bridge, flood control, drainage, airport, and wastewater projects. The incumbent will work with project teams and utility agencies to clear utility conflicts and support the development of capital projects. For information about CIP, click here.

This position assigned to the Waste Planning & Recycling section will coordinate compliance with SB 1383 and other state regulations, oversee and implement the commercial recycling program, oversee and track franchise hauler program compliance, work with construction and demolition program representatives; coordinate waste tonnage tracking programs; coordinate the analysis of data from outside jurisdictions; provide full supervision over staff assigned to Waste Planning & Recycling; and perform other management and program coordination related work. Note: The future incumbent for this position may be required to travel to areas within the county region and work in outdoor settings on an occasional basis.

Hiring Process and Timeline

  • Pre-employment Medical Screening: Approximately 3 days following successful background investigation results.

  • Anticipated Start Date: Start date will be based upon successful completion of medical screening or other mutually agreed upon date.

Minimum Qualifications

A bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or certified foreign studies equivalency, AND, four (4) years of professional experience performing analysis, budget management, program administration, engineering, or closely related work in a program performing planning and analysis; OR a combination of education and/or experience as stated above.
