DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: The work involves the development and coordination of Quality Assurance, grant initiatives, technical assistance for the daily operations and data collection activities for the Department of Immunodeficiency Services at the Erie County Medical Center Corporation.

The incumbent participates in coordinating and implementing programs to improve the reputation of the outpatient immunodeficiency clinic within the medical community. Work is performed under the general supervision of a higher-level administrative employee. Supervision is exercised over lower-level staff performing departmental grant activities. Does related work as required.

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:

Assists in writing new policy and procedures; reviews and revises current policy and procedures;

Develops and implements quality improvement projects to address HIV quality indicator deficiencies;

Establishes consumer lead goals and objectives for the clinic;

Assists in organizing events and programs, prepares articles and develops monthly newsletter to enhance community relationships and increase community outreach;

Ensures implementation of new initiatives for information technology including electronic medical records;

Oversees data collections of Buffalo anti retroviral cohort (BARC), AIDS Institute Reports System (AIRS) and electronic medical records and develops method to collect needed data;

Prepares reports and data bases needed for grants and study documentation;

Researches new grant applications; writes, prepares and submits grants, grant proposals and grant submissions;

Maintains, distributes, analyzes and projects information for required records, reports and data;

Prepares various reports and written documentation;

Develops new forms or improves the format, usage and control of existing forms;

Represents Program Manger at community meetings/events;

Participates in various committees and leads and attends meetings.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Good knowledge of the applicable laws, rules, regulations and accreditation standards related to immunodeficiency programs operating in New York State; good knowledge of the Immunodeficiency Department and related functions at ECMCC; good knowledge of grant writing techniques and resources; ability to develop goals and objectives for the immunodeficiency clinic; ability to maintain confidentiality; ability to collect, organize, input and interpret data; ability to prepare reports; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse constituency; ability to utilize a variety of electronic software applications; sound professional judgment; capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor's Degree and four (4) years of experience in an immunodeficiency services setting.

NOTE: Verifiable part-time and/or volunteer experience will be pro-rated toward meeting full-time experience requirements.
