Position Information

The purpose of this classification is to coordinate and supervise a variety of recreational, natural resource, athletic, and therapeutic recreation programs, activities, and special events for the community.

Job Summary

The Campground Coordinator makes sure that all functions of the gatehouse are being coordinated and that camper needs are being fulfilled. The Campground Coordinator also acts as the lead resource for volunteer camp hosts.The Campground Coordinator directs the Volunteer Camp Hosts and ensures that campground facilities are maintained, and daily operations run smoothly.

Essential Functions:

  • Ensuresgatehouseistidyandhasallnecessaryforms,maps,andofficesupplies onpremiseatall times.

  • SuperviseandscheduleVolunteerCampgroundHoststomaintain adequate coverage and site preparation for incoming guests.

  • CommunicateswiththeCampground'sCrewLeaderaboutneededrepairs,maintenance,and bathhouse supplies.

  • Handles visitor requests and complaints by communicating with the appropriate personnel (Crew Leader, Park Ranger, etc.)

  • Maintain files and reports as directed by the operations supervisor.

  • Maintains and enhances a guest focused culture in all areas of responsibility.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with FCPRD Staff, motivates, evaluates and directs customer service rep and volunteerhoststoensureadequateguidanceandresourcestoaccomplishestablishedgoalsand objectives.Ensuresthatallteammembersreceivethetraining,support,guidance,feedbackand resources necessary to successfully perform their required duties.

  • Operate the campground reservation system

  • AssistsCustomerServiceRepregisteringguestsuponarrival.

  • Greetandassistvisitors,answerquestionsandexplainregulationswhichapplytothem.

  • Distributemaps,copiesofparkrulesandregulations,befamiliarwithlocalpointsofinterest.

  • Overseecampsiteuse(howlongthecampershavebeenatthepark,numberofvisitors/sites, number of cars/site)

  • Monitorcampgroundfacilities(sites,bathrooms)tomakesuretheyarekeptaccordingtostandards.

  • Managemaintenancesupplyinventoryandorderasneeded.

  • Maintainadailyweeklyormonthly scheduleforthevolunteerhosts.

  • Keep a written report of complaints and criticism of park facilities, report situations that could affect the health and safety of visitors and report any maintenance items which need immediate attention. May maintain other written records as requested.

  • Demonstrate an on-going commitment to delivering excellent guest service and to ensure that staff members are delivering excellent guest service.

  • Operatescountyvehiclesinandoutofthecampground.

  • Maintainsandenhancesaguestfocusedculture in all areas of responsibility.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS

This classification is designated as a safety sensitive position which is subject to random drug and alcohol testing and any other drug testing methods as stated in policies adopted by Forsyth County concerning drug and alcohol.

Performs general/clerical tasks, which may include answering telephone calls, making copies, sending/receiving faxes, filing documentation, processing incoming/outgoing mail, distributing documentation, or posting information at parks.

Performs light maintenance/housekeeping tasks associated with maintaining event sites or work areas, which may include sweeping/mopping floors, cleaning tables/counters, cleaning kitchen sinks/refrigerators, picking up trash, setting up tables/chairs, moving bleachers or goals to accommodate leagues, spreading dirt, cleaning dirt from bases, raking ball fields, applying chalk/paint lines to ball fields, unloading deliveries, or erecting holiday decorations.

Performs officiating or scorekeeping functions during league games as needed.

Provides assistance to other employees or departments as needed.

Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Park and Recreation Administration or a related field from an accredited college or university; supplemented by one (1) year previous experience and/or training involving recreation program administration, or athletic league coordination, or Therapeutic Recreation, public interaction, and supervision; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license. Must possess CPR certification. Possession of Certified Parks & Recreation Professional (CPRP) status through the National Recreation & Parks Association (NRPA) is preferred but not required. For therapeutic recreation coordinators, possession of Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) status through the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC) is preferred but not required.
