Since 1972, TPL has protected more than 4 million acres of public land, created more than 5,364 parks, trails, schoolyards, and iconic outdoor places, raised $93 billion in public funding for parks and public lands, and connected nearly 9.4 million people to the outdoors.This position will support both the Camden and Philadelphia programs to help improve connections to the outdoors through the creation of trails, parks, Community Schoolyards, urban forests, and other conservation planning and engagement work.  The program coordinator will assist with a range of tasks such as project coordination; grant writing and administration; building and maintaining partnerships, community engagement, and leading participatory design processes.The Program Coordinator will join TPL’s Philadelphia-based program team and report to the Camden Program Director.  Philadelphia’s program team is collaborative, supportive, and integrated in a nationwide organization that offers enriching and broad expertise. We are passionate about delivering critical impact with creativity, resolve, and fun.Responsibilities:Camden Program Coordination- 70%
  • Coordinate a breadth of partners by maintaining communication, meeting planning and coordination, and program updates with local nonprofit, public, and civic organizations
  • Support project management by tracking project milestones, , monitoring budgets, maintaining communication with design professionals and project partners, and providing documentation and logistics support for design development, budget management, construction management, project closeout, and grant reporting
  • Support community engagement by drafting and implementing meeting plans, managing outreach, developing meeting agendas and presentations, and tracking and sharing key decisions and action items. This will at times include engaging residents, students, and other community members in design decisions during public park and schoolyard development.
  • Support grant writing inclusive of coordinating funding application development and writing application content
  • Support the development of conservation plans inclusive of desktop research, drafting and editing planning documents, and by supporting community engagement
  • Write and distribute regular communications, and develop and distribute outreach materials
Philadelphia Program Coordination: 30%
  • Support the Program team on all aspects of park and schoolyard project development, with a focus on grant management, documentation, and coordination with public agencies.
  • Support stewardship and community engagement at TPL’s Philadelphia projects.
  • Collaborate with TPL colleagues to articulate the impact of our Park and Schoolyard Program for external audiences, including public and private funders.

  • Knowledge of fields such as landscape design, community development, planning, community organizing, construction management, or active transportation
  • Competence working with diverse stakeholder groups, including youth
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate with multiple partners, including nonprofit organizations, community groups, and public agencies
  • Project management skills, inclusive of budget tracking and grant administration
  • Interest in urban park, green infrastructure, or trail development
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communications
  • Enthusiasm for working with internal and external colleagues who contribute a variety of skills, life experiences, and points of view
  • Proficiency with English and one other language preferred
  • Knowledge of Camden and/or Philadelphia neighborhoods and communities preferred
TPL has moved to a hybrid work model with a mix of in-office, site, and remote work. This position requires in-office work for a minimum of three (3) days in TPL’s Philadelphia office, with more in-person time required during onboarding. This model is subject to change. This position requires occasional ‘off-hours’ work including weekend and evening meetings and events. The position will involve sitework and project management statewide including occasional regional travel. A valid driver’s license is required.As a full-time, exempt employee, you will be eligible for Trust for Public Land’s comprehensive benefits program, which includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, vacation, holidays, Summer Fridays, and a 403(b) retirement plan with up to a 7% company match.
