Position Summary:

Develops, coordinates, and supervises high quality YMCA aquatic programs.

Essential Functions:

  • Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations.

  • Responsible for the safety of members, recognizing and responding effectively to emergencies.

  • Responsible for the daily physical operation of the pool; supervise and schedule for the effective use and maintenance of the aquatic facilities.

  • Enforce all facility policies, rules and regulations, and complete records and reports regarding the following: hourly member attendance, water chemistry, incidents and accidents.

  • Assists with lifeguarding, swim instruction, First Aid and CPR trainings.

  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.

  • Monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.

  • Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.

  • Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.


  1. Assists with Program Committee meetings.

  2. Facilitate timely and appropriate responses to member comments/complaints.

  3. Serves as on-deck coordinator when no guarding/teaching.

  4. Carry out additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • One to two years related experience preferred.

  • Must be 21 years of age.

  • Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include: CPR-Pro, First Aid, O2, AED, Hazardous Communications, Respirator Training.

  • Completion of YMCA program-specific and trainer certifications, including: Life Guard Instructor, Swim Lesson Trainer, P.O.O.L. or CPO.

Physical Demands:

Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions of position and to supervise program activities.
