The Division of Global Health Equity (DGHE) works to reduce health disparities and to improve medical treatment outcomes for the poor. The Division is currently involved in projects in the US (Boston and Navajo Nation), Haiti, Peru, Russia, Rwanda, Lesotho, Malawi and South Africa, focusing on infectious diseases (e.g., HIV and tuberculosis) as well as non-infectious diseases (e.g., coronary artery disease, diabetes, addiction) and other health problems of major importance to society.

The Coordinator's main responsibilities include supporting the academic initiatives, pre-award research, and administrative functions in the Division. In addition, she will be responsible for special projects defined in collaboration with Divisional leadership

The Coordinator will report to the Associate Division Chief and Administrative Director and will play a key role in the development and growth of the Division.

GHE Residency- 20%

Coordinate logistics for Howard and Doris Hiatt Global Health Equity Residency and BWH internal medicine residents committed to Global Health. Activities include, but are not limited to programs, travel, faculty leadership support.

Academic Program Support- 20%

Assists with program development and operations as directed, including the Global Health Delivery Intensive Course and biennial Continuing Medical Education course.

Coordinate Global Health Delivery Intensive Program at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health for 60 students from 25 countries including: application management, visas, course operations, and communications with faculty directors and multiple departments across University

Assist with coordination and logistics of monthly Global Health Delivery Grand Rounds and Health Equity residency Roundtables, and annual Continuing Medical Education course

Financial and Administrative Management- 20%

Under guidance of Director of Administration, responsible for divisional financial and operational efforts including: purchasing and accounting, and interactions with various BWH departments and partner organizations and 90 Divisional faculty and staff.

Grants Administration- 20%

Helps to prepare and edit grant applications (pre-award) and other related materials under the guidance of senior grant administrator.

General Office and Administrative Support, and miscellaneous tasks- 20%

Provides general, entry level administrative support to managers, staff, providers and/or PIs under general supervision. Periodic opportunities to work directly with faculty on programmatic initiatives. Support communications activities including website content maintenance and development materials and editing presentations. Coordinate onboarding and orientation for new DGHE faculty and staff to the DGHE office.

  • Bachelor's degree required.

  • Minimum one year applicable work experience

  • Interest in global health and development approaches preferred

  • Highly proficient skills in Microsoft Office is required

  • Must be deadline driven

  • Able to take responsibility for oversight of tasks with many moving parts and multiple deadlines

  • Highly attentive to detail; ability to multi-task and function effectively in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent writing skills including attention to grammar, spelling as well as effectiveness and brevity in written communications.

  • Able to communicate effectively and professionally in writing and orally with a wide range of people

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and organizational skills; strong follow-up and information sharing skills

  • Responsiveness to customers: divisional leadership, faculty and staff, central PHS staff, external partners, funders, etc.

  • High ability to show discretion ability to handle sensitive and confidential information

  • Willingness and curiosity to problem solve and to attain expertise in new tools and systems

  • Respect for diversity of cultural perspectives and diverse styles of work and communication

  • The candidate should have excellent verbal, and written communications skills, with meticulous attention to detail

  • DGHE seeks a self-motivated individual who is comfortable working independently and providing recommendations to the Associate Chief, Administrative Director, Research Administrator and faculty.
