Position is located at Parsons State Hospital & Training Center, days/hours may vary. A negative drug screen is required as a condition of employment.
All employees are expected to work in a harmonious and cooperative fashion with other staff to provide efficient and effective customer service: to use free time as available to assist other staff in the completion of work assignments and perform other tasks as needed; to contribute to a positive work environment through a positive, helpful, courteous demeanor towards staff, customers and the general public; and to adhere to appropriate standards of conduct regarding the use of leave, reports to work on time and in the designated fashion.
The Program Consultant supervises a diverse group of staff across three shifts to assure protection of resident rights is provided in a humane, home-like environment. The Program Consultant must be available for a varied work schedule which at times may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, or holidays. The Program Consultant is responsible for helping to coordinate and prioritizing the delivery of training and person-centered services with individuals living at PSH. This involves the integrations of various aspects of services to meet the individual requests, preferences and needs of each individual living in a designated unit. Accurate records must be maintained to assure the varied responsibilities of this position are met.
Daily contact with individuals receiving services, adult training staff, cottage, professional, ancillary and administrative staff for program planning and implementation. Routine contact with community members & businesses for networking, promotion and development of programs on behalf of facility and individuals receiving services, planning and implementation. Occasional contact with legislators for information tours and contact with parents/guardians for developing/implementing training for individuals.
Develops training and development programs via the use of a variety of methods including lecture, modeling, and visual aids. Writes educational training programs for individuals. Observes and gives feedback to adult service staff while they train and support the individuals.
Must follow basic policy or protection from harm procedures for Individuals and staff safety. Follows standard safety procedures by the manufacturers of equipment.
Minimum Qualifications: One year experience developing and delivering training programs and materials. Two years' experience leading or supervising a cottage of living unit for individuals with Developmental disabilities. Education may be substituted as determined relevant by the agency.
Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge and experience in developmental disabilities, mental disabilities, and dual diagnosis; adult education teaching skills, and strategies; person-centered planning and supports model; issues relevant to supporting/teaching individuals with handicapping conditions; regulatory guidelines and laws relevant to ICF/MR regulations issues involving individuals with handicapping conditions. Experience following DOL guidelines and regulations regarding employment. Experience with payroll services.
Staff who operate a motor vehicle must possess a valid Kansas driver's license.
