Seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Energy Management Intern to join our team. As an intern, you will play a crucial role in supporting our energy management initiatives, with a focus on leveraging the Energy Star Portfolio Manager. This role requires a keen analytical mindset, exceptional organizational skills, a passion for sustainable energy practices, and the ability to collect and analyze data from building characteristics and energy bills. Familiarity with Rocky Mountain Power and Dominion's incentive programs and rate schedules is essential.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
Energy Star Portfolio Manager:
Utilize the Energy Star Portfolio Manager to track, analyze, and benchmark energy consumption across our building portfolio.
Input and manage data in the Portfolio Manager to ensure accurate and up-to-date information for energy performance assessments.
Incentive Programs and Rate Schedules:
Stay informed about Rocky Mountain Power and Dominion's incentive programs and rate schedules.
Identify and leverage available incentives and programs to enhance the cost-effectiveness of energy-saving initiatives.
HVAC Equipment Knowledge:
Demonstrate understanding and knowledge of HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems and equipment.
Collaborate with facility teams to assess HVAC performance and recommend energy-efficient solutions.
Data Collection and Organization:
Collect and organize data concerning building characteristics and energy data from utility bills.
Ensure accurate and comprehensive documentation to support energy efficiency analyses.
Data Analysis:
Conduct in-depth analysis of energy consumption patterns, identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost savings.
Prepare reports and presentations summarizing key findings, trends, and recommended actions for energy optimization.
Benchmarking:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to benchmark energy performance against industry standards and identify areas for improvement.
Assist in developing strategies to enhance energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives.
Organizational Support:
Work closely with facility managers and other stakeholders to collect data on energy usage and implement best practices for efficient energy management.
Support the implementation of energy-saving projects and initiatives.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of energy consumption data.
Generate regular reports to communicate energy performance metrics to internal stakeholders.
Training and Knowledge Sharing:
Share insights on HVAC equipment efficiency and best practices with the team to optimize building performance.
Stay informed about industry best practices, emerging technologies, and updates related to energy management.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued Minimum Qualifications
Associate degree required.
Two (2) - Four (4) years of direct paid work experience.
Must have and maintain a valid Utah Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications
Currently pursuing a degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field.
Strong analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
Familiarity with Energy Star Portfolio Manager or similar energy management tools.
Knowledge of Rocky Mountain Power and Dominion's incentive programs and rate schedules.
Understanding of HVAC systems and equipment.
Experience with Metasys and Skyspark.
Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Responsible for data collection, entry and computer applications for energy benchmarking using Portfolio Manager.
Energy consumption and cost data to benchmark building energy performance, assess energy management goals over time, and identify strategic opportunities for savings.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Proficient and accurate typist.
Exceptional customer service skills and phone etiquette.
Must have a valid Utah driver's license.
Read, write, speak English fluently and communicate effectively.
Computer knowledge, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Banner, Outlook.
Organization skills.
Follow oral and written instructions.
Troubleshoot and research problems.
Must be able to multi-task.
Self-starter.
Non-Essential Responsibilities and Duties Special Instructions
This position requires a flexible schedule, which may include graveyard, swing shift, and day shifts.
This position requires driving between all campuses and centers.
Background check is required on selected finalist.
