We have won groundbreaking cases before national courts, U.N. Committees, and regional human rights bodies. Additionally, the Center has led the development of historic, proactive legislation advancing robust protections for reproductive rights and has built the legal capacity of women's rights advocates in more than 65 countries and counting.

The Role: The Global Advocacy department leads the Center's engagement at the global level and at the UN. The Program Associate, Global Advocacy provides critical administrative and coordination support to the Center's Global Advocacy department, including but not limited to program administration, event planning support, scheduling and logistical support, maintenance of internal processes and systems, cross-team coordination, and drafting of communications. The position reports to the Associate Director, Planning, Reporting and Operations, Global Advocacy.

This position will be based in the New York City office a hybrid model of 3 days in-office, 2 days working-from-home. Covid-19 Vaccination is required for all U.S.-based employees of the Center.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide logistical support to the Vice President, Global Advocacy, with travel logistics, calendar support, meeting logistics and prep, expense support, and other administrative support as requested;

  • Provide support to the Associate Director and Senior Program Manager, GA in the annual planning, quarterly program reporting and budgeting, and ME&L processes and the management of ad hoc program communications, including drafting and mailing correspondences; and responding to inquiries;

  • Maintain team document libraries, including updating institutional memoranda, mailing lists, and documents;

  • Coordinate weekly team meetings and take notes as needed;

  • Manage (track, process, coordinate) the teams' budgets, expenses/reimbursements, and other financial needs and support the management of contracts and partnership agreements and payments.

  • Assist with organization, logistics and coordination of program-related events;

  • Prepare materials for meetings/events/travel, including PowerPoints and background information;

  • Support publication processes and event planning, including by liaising between teams to develop timelines and schedules;

  • Assist with editing, proof-reading, fact-checking, and cite-checking papers, reports, legal submissions, factsheets, and other publications, as needed;

  • Liaise with operations team and other units and departments, as needed; and

  • Other tasks and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • University Degree (baccalaureate or higher) in relevant field

  • 2+ years of relevant work experience

  • Demonstrated commitment to the mission

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills

  • Flexibility and ability to work professionally in a fast-paced environment

  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and other meeting platforms (i.e. Zoom)

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Self-motivation and the ability to work independently, while also collaborating in a team setting

  • The ability to complete assignments in a timely manner, often under considerable time pressure, and to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Commitment to human rights, reproductive rights, and/or women's rights generally

  • Capacity to receive and accept constructive feedback

  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills

  • Additional budget or financial management skills are a plus

Compensation: This position's salary is $31.87 per hour, 35 hours a week, for an estimated annual salary of $58,000. This salary is reflective of a position based in New York City. This salary will be subject to a locality adjustment, if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting. Note that most of the salaries listed on our job postings reflect New York, NY salaries, where our National offices are headquartered.
