Position Description:

  • Reporting directly to the Director for Business Affairs & University Bursar, the Program Assistant serves as a generalist and will help support the office by handling many critical operational and support functions. The Program Assistant will assist the Bursar with special projects that require strong analysis and organizational skills.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Analyze, administer, and provide reporting on a $150K departmental budget for the Office of the Bursar.

  • Assist in the month-end reconciliation of the RowanCard fund. Help prepare monthly MDV for Payment to over 95+ plus RowanCard merchants.

  • Act as the Department Timekeeper for Payroll and maintains a departmental time out calendar; coordinate the collection of data and preparation of informative reports in support of time and attendance records.

  • Assist the Bursar leadership team with special projects that involve both analytical and strong organizational skills.

  • Work collaboratively with Bursar staff to expedite and implement initiatives.

  • Request purchase orders, manage encumbrances, and process check requests in accordance with University policies and procedures; maintain appropriate levels of office supply inventory, as well as handling files and organization of space.

  • Plan, schedule, and/or attend meetings and conferences as directed and prepare reports thereon; maintain invitation lists, reserves event space, and coordinate technology needs.

  • Assist the office with collection calls as needed to improve and support the University's overall AR.

  • Participate in student orientation and assists with related showcase events.

  • Consult with the supervisor on a regular basis to discuss departmental progress, identify problems, and effect resolutions.

  • Establish liaison and maintain cooperative working relationships with other staff or areas whose functions impact on assigned responsibilities.

  • Provide customer service to parents and students by answering their inquiries via the telephone, e-mail, in-person and Bursar Online Chat.

  • Apply University policies and procedures, federal and/or state laws and regulations regarding financial aid and cash management/bursar function as needed in the course of official duties.

  • Support front office cashiering staff, as needed, with a variety of cashiering and student accounting based functions.

Required Education:

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree, preferably in Accounting, Finance, or Business-related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Banner by Ellucian strongly preferred

  • Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel

  • Self-starter and ability to prioritize competing deadlines

  • Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills

  • Active problem solving and effective interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment

  • Ability to maintain confidentially of records and information

Salary:

  • P16 (Step 1 = $42,895)
