The Center for Scholar Development is the home to the four campus TRIO programs, Upward Bound, Student Support Services-Regular, Student Support Services-STEM, and the McNair Scholars, as well as the college Preparatory Enrollment Program. The mission of the CSD department is support educational pathways in an affirming environment for first generation scholars in their pursuit of post-secondary success.

Primary Purpose

Assist the Project Director with the day-to-day administration of student programming, recordkeeping, and communication with families, students, alumni and partner high schools. Responsible for maintaining all program databases and online application systems, managing program inventory and technology, as well as the collection, maintenance and reporting of student, program, and financial data for the TRIO Upward Bound Program in the Center for Scholar Development

Essential Duties

  • Assist with the development and implementation of effective tools and procedures to collect, input, verify, and produce reports related to enrollment, graduates, and the operation of the Upward Bound Program.

  • Assist the Project Director with the collection, maintenance, and integrity of data pertaining to student attendance, academic progress, high school graduation, and college entry and persistence.

  • Work collaboratively with the Upward Bound staff and community partners to effectively ensure timely execution of print and electronic communication to students, families, and target high schools.

  • Maintain and update all program participant data-related (contact) information.

  • Track alumni progress in post-secondary education through the National Student Clearinghouse and direct outreach; develop and administer alumni follow-up surveys, prepare reports detailing results

  • Coordinate with MIS, updates to system and building relevant queries and reports.

  • Research, prepare and coordinate data for program management, grant purposes, and the preparation and completion of the federal Annual Performance Report (APR)

  • Assist Project Director with the management of budgets to ensure compliance with accounting and procurement procedures

  • Provide support to Program director and staff with program activities (i.e., on/off campus trips and events, Scholar/Parent Orientation, Faculty Orientation, campus space reservations, etc.).

  • Serve as the office PeopleSoft, Blumen, and JotForm specialist and troubleshooter.

  • Assist with the management of the Program's website and social media accounts (i.e., Facebook, Instagram, Twitter)

  • Serve as the front-facing person of the Upward Bound Program to support visitors (students, teachers, and parents), program inquiries, and requests for data from both internal and external stakeholders.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Experience working with data and using Microsoft Excel and/or databases

  • Working knowledge of PC software for data management.

  • Strong technological and data management skills.

  • Excellent written, oral communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to collaborate with others.

  • Ability to remain calm under pressure

  • Ability to respond to colleagues, families, and students in a polite, sensitive, and competent manner

Required Qualifications

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma and (6) years of experience in a fast-paced office

OR

Associate's degree in a related field and (3) years of experience in a fast-paced office

OR

Bachelor's degree in a related field with (2) years of experience in a fast-paced office

Preferred Qualifications

  • A minimum of two years' working with data and/or software systems.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with low-income, first-generation students.

  • Bilingual
