What You'll Be Doing

Wake County Economic Services is seeking a highly organized Program Assistant who excels with Excel and has a person-centered, positive approach to help our teams make everyday life possible for thousands of people in our community!

In this role, you will be given the opportunity to utilize your analytical skills with reports and data as well as your customer service skills assisting the public by answering questions, researching, and resolving issues via phone and email. At the end of your day, you and your team's work will have helped residents and families overcome barriers by providing direct services and connections to community resources. Those with direct clerical or customer services experience providing support to a Medicaid, Food and Nutrition Services, Work First, or Child Care Subsidy Program within a State or County Department of Social Services are encouraged to apply.

Essential daily functions;

  • Gather data and information from various reports from NCFAST and other systems (PowerBI, Client Services Data Warehouse) to create spreadsheets

  • Create daily and monthly reports using statistics and create spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel and export data from spreadsheets to create charts and graphs

  • Develop graphs from data to report program statistics

  • Serve as support for Program Manager and Administrative Supervisor

  • Be a Team Player and serve as back up to other administrative staff when they need help

The Basics (Required Education and Experience)

  • Associate's degree

  • One year of job-related experience

  • Equivalent education and experience are accepted

Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)

  • Advanced Excel skills

  • Direct clerical or customer services experience providing support to a Medicaid, Food and Nutrition Services, Work First, or Child Care Subsidy Program within a State or County Department of Social Services

  • Two years (2) or more experience working within a State or County Department of Social Services providing support to Economic Assistance Programs

  • Bachelor's degree in related area

Hiring Range: 22.84 - 27.43

Market Range: 22.84 - 32.03

Emergency Service Worker Statement

In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.
