The Program Assistant will, under the supervision of the Operations Manager; support and assist in providing effective management and oversight for all Alliance programs including Illinois Teen REACH, 21st Century Community Learning Centers. The Program Assistant will support and provide all-staff training(s) for member-partner organizations in Illinois and others. This position is responsible for ensuring quality and innovative programs that address the unique and diverse needs of both club kids and staff in Illinois. Will assist Alliance Director with social media strategy and implementation as well as other external relations tasks when appropriate and not conflicting with other duties as assigned; including attending relevant hearings and meetings as directed. Will assist in drafting and obtaining documents to support proposals for funding in support of Club activities and programs.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, plan and manage execution of training programs to support Teen REACH, 21st Century Community Learning Centers and other Alliance funded project or services.

  • Assist with preparation of annual State Youth of the Year celebration and other event planning as needed.

  • Facilitate communication with organization(s) regarding Alliance programs, personal visits to Clubs to seek & provide input. Assist & support the coordination of Program committee activity as directed to empower program development, objectives and agendas.

  • Work in concert with grant funded evaluators, when appropriate and/or conduct comprehensive annual evaluation and analysis of all Alliance programs. Provide and develop reporting and recommendation of findings.

  • Research and enable best practices and innovative trends in similar programs and program areas. Expand the reach and impact of all programs while managing and supporting existing program purpose.

  • Assist and support the identification and pursuit of grant and funding opportunities aligned with the strategic direction and objectives of the Alliance and BGCA. Similarly support and assist Clubs when appropriate and directed by supervisor.

  • Assist in marketing and communication efforts. Attend and present at conferences to promote Alliance/BGCA programs. Manage administrative logistics of establishing and running programs, inclusive of marketing, training, and distribution of program materials.

  • Communicate with Clubs regularly to discuss program effectiveness and potential improvements including a goal of one in-person visit annually.

  • Oversee and be responsible for the collection, review and compilation of program documentation for reports to funders as required and provide any needed technical assistance and support to Clubs in order to be successful.

  • Demonstrate ability to integrate our BGCA mission driven values ("ICARE") in to one's work ethic, environment and relationships

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree preferred

  • 2+ years of experience managing grant programs

  • Nonprofit or philanthropic experience a plus

  • Youth development experience a plus

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and multiple social media platforms required

  • Strong program management skills

  • Highly organized and detail oriented

  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills

  • Enjoy working independently and as part of a team

  • Normal internal office environment.

  • Travel estimated at 5-10% in support of Illinois Alliance organizations. The individual selected for this position must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and be able to navigate areas of the country by using a map or other method. Frequent internal contacts with employees throughout organization required.

This position is also responsible for partnering with our agency force to profitably grow our Commercial book of business through proactive activities that include agency Commercial product training, financial rep marketing plan development, lead generation and solicitation assistance. Within an assigned territory, this positions accepts, declines, or modifies offerings submitted by producers. Develops ongoing relationships with agents, monitors agency growth, profitability and quality of submissions, and keeps agent up-to-date with underwriting and/or product changes. Evaluates risks according to location, physical and moral hazards, underwriting precedent, and experience. Checks information received concerning risks, inspection reports, credit reports, producer's advisories, etc. Reviews all correspondence, daily reports, endorsements, inspection and credit reports, and publications pertaining to responsibility. Serves as a consultant to production, rating, and claims adjusting personnel, as required. Maintains frequent visit schedule with all assigned agents. * This position is part of a job family. Placement will be determined by skills and qualifications of the candidate. Utilizes effective persuasion and negotiation techniques to facilitate the acceptance of underwriting decisions. * Conducts formal and informal training to financial representatives and agency managers on various aspects of the Property and Casualty insurance business as needed, through specific projects as well as day-to-day occurrences, with an emphasis on Commercial Lines. * Partners with the agency mangers within an assigned territory to promote profitable commercial growth, through establishing shared commercial goals, commercial training expectations and planned commercial promotion within their agency. * Meets with representatives and help identify, develop and implement programs to take advantage of specific marketing opportunities, particularly with commercial and agriculture related risks. Preferred Qualificiations: * Strong commercial or agribusiness underwriting experience, including field exposure. * Experience in working & partnering with a sales force in support of profitable P&C growth. * Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills. * Strong organizational & self-management skills. Able to work well both independently & as a team member. * Utilize data skills such as Excel/Tableau/Pivot table applications. Required Qualifications: * Typically requires: * Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of commercial or field underwriting or related experience, OR * Master's degree and at least 3 years of commercial or field underwriting or related experience, OR * At least 7 years of commercial or field underwriting or related experience.
