Join us at the City of Hillsboro Parks & Recreation Department as we seek a dynamic Program and Facility Manager for our Recreation and Sports Division! In this role, you'll lead talented teams dedicated to expanding community-based recreation and sports programs, while also overseeing the management of the Gordon Faber Recreation Complex (GFRC) and associated facilities in vibrant Hillsboro, Oregon.
As the Program and Facility Manager, you'll support and guide a skilled staff responsible for delivering a wide range of recreation and sports programs, managing sports complex operations, and ensuring the maintenance of facilities. With a strong emphasis on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), our recreation and sports programming team delivers youth and adult sports, summer camps, after-school activities, and community programs aimed at wellness, culture, social engagement, and enrichment for Hillsboro residents.
The Gordon Faber Recreation Complex is a premier destination for sporting events and community activities, hosting a variety of local and regional events. Additionally, it serves as a venue for special events, community activities, and corporate gatherings, attracting spectators and participants from the region and beyond.
Candidate Profile:
We're seeking a candidate with experience in facility management, community engagement, and sports programming. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in working with community organizations, possess a deep understanding of sports and recreational programs, exhibit creativity, and show initiative. Strong communication skills, flexibility, tact, problem-solving abilities, excellent safety judgment, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion are essential for success in this role.
Furthermore, the City of Hillsboro is collaborating with the Hillsboro Hops to support the team in meeting the requirements for Major League Baseball's "High A" full-season baseball. The chosen Manager will play a pivotal role in overseeing the scheduling and operations of a multifaceted campus once the ballpark construction is completed.

Ideal Experience, Skills, and Qualifications:
Understands and has experience managing facilities and programs serving the community, with demonstrated proficiency in staffing, programming, marketing, and event scheduling.
Proficient in staff supervision, including performance evaluations, professional development, and decision-making regarding hiring, termination, and discipline.
Exhibits strong collaboration and relationship-building skills.
Capable of establishing and maintaining relationships with various organizations and stakeholders for collaborative programming and partnerships.
Familiarity with professional sports teams, including negotiation, scheduling, and maintenance practices.
Knowledgeable about emerging trends in recreation, particularly regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Experience with adaptive program techniques and devices, ADA requirements, and inclusion principles.
Skilled in managing complex budgets and cost recovery.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; bilingual Spanish skills would be advantageous.
Current/Upcoming Projects:
Oversee operations at the Gordon Faber Recreation Complex (GFRC), including Hillsboro Stadium and various sports fields.
Lead initiatives to enhance sports and recreation programs by supporting and guiding talented staff.
Cultivate partnerships with community stakeholders such as Portland State University, Hillsboro Hops, Hillsboro School District, Oregon School Activities Association, among others.
Play a pivotal role in the new ballpark project with the Hillsboro Hops, scheduled to commence construction in 2024.
Support and implement the ongoing cost-of-service study.

Acceptable Experience and Training:
Bachelor's degree in Recreation Management, Education, Public Administration, or a related field, and a minimum of 5 years' experience in parks and recreation facilities and event management, including at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Bilingual incentive pay available:
Preference may be given to candidates who are bilingual in Spanish/English.
