Career Services at USC Sol Price School of Public Policy supports the institution's mission to serve the public good globally by providing comprehensive, distinctive career services and programming for Master and Undergraduate students.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Director, the Assistant Director of Career Education will be the lead in providing career advising support for Master and Undergraduate Price students, designing career advising approaches, developing career education workshops, designing course curricula, and managing distinctive programming.

Qualifications

Career Services seeks an experienced career advisor professional with 5 10 years' experience delivering career advising to traditional-aged as well as early career students, ideally in a professional degree program. The Price School confers degrees in Public Policy, Public Administration, Health Administration, Urban Planning and Real Estate Development, along with a variety of online and executive programs. Applicants that have industry- and/or advising expertise serving students studying in these disciplines are strongly encouraged to apply.

Proven oral, written, and presentation skills. Ability to work across difference to engage a wide array of community members: students, student leaders, staff, faculty and administrators. Possesses considerable knowledge of the career pathways of interest to our students. Superior relationship-building skills; equally competent and comfortable working independently and within a team. Interested in the institution's mission of serving the public's good and committed to enhancing the career success of the wide age and diverse backgrounds of Sol Price students. Master degree in related field(s) preferred.

Duties

  • Deliver career advising to individuals and small groups deploying existing, and new career advising modalities to meet the occupational inquires of Price students. Inventory current career advising appointment types and develop strategies to maximize the student experience in advising appointments. Skilled in a variety of Career Assessment tools and will work with team to evaluate appropriate assessment tools for the student population.

  • Work with Director to devise a strategic approach to the delivery of career advising to better serve undergraduate and master populations.

  • Lead in staying abreast of new career advising modalities, interventions and career tools that increase career awareness across disciplines.

  • Lead in designing course curricula for Internship Course(s); will teach one internship course per semester.

  • Create, manage and execute a variety of small to large-scale career education programming from workshops focused on international students to externships.

  • Lead to run Price's flagship Price Professional Mentorship Program.

  • Manage the department's master-led peer advising program, designing curricula, training modules, etc.; train peer advisors annually and consider new training options to increase peer advisors' expertise.

  • Support Director in designing student learning outcomes pertaining to career discernment competencies; Create pre- and post-assessment materials for major programs; design and administer advising satisfaction survey.

  • Will prepare and update career education handouts and templates.

  • Deliver reports pertaining to career advising and appointment usage in Symplicity.

  • Other Duties

  • Will manage up to four student workers providing leadership and direction to student worker projects.

  • Will be part of a team-based approach to providing distinctive career support and programming for international students seeking state-side or international employment.

  • Special projects as assigned: report writing, benchmarking, program assessment, etc.

  • As part of the team may develop and lead local and out of state Career Treks involving overnight travel.

Minimum Field of Expertise: Directly related professional experience in area of program specialization.

Requirements: * Current licensure as an R.N. in the applicable state. * Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN preferred. * Confirmation of the ability to distinguish all primary colors. * 12 months experience in clinical nursing and an additional 6 months experience in providing nursing care to patients on maintenance dialysis.
