Program Administrator

The Johns Hopkins School of Nursing is seeking a Program Administrator for education, research, training, and capacity building projects on the Fort Belknap Reservation. The Program Administrator will provide instruction and coordination to the Young Medicine Movement program for Aaniiih and Nakoda high school scholars, a nursing, public health and STEM pathways program for Native American high school students, project management to research grants and applications, and community engagement across multiple projects. This position will work with a community-engaged research team based in Baltimore and partners at Fort Belknap Tribal Health.

This position offers opportunities for growth and contribution to a team passionate about interventions and programs designed to promote the health and wellbeing of Indigenous people, specifically youth.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

Summer Programming

  • Coordinates the development of a summer schedule for multiple cohorts of Aaniiih and Nakoda high school scholars, with a focus on day-to-day changes and modifications.

  • Develops and provides training on standard operating procedures for all aspects of programing.

  • Provides instruction on topics related to historical trauma, Fort Belknap Tribes history, and other culture and history information to high school scholars.

  • Provides STEM instruction to high school scholars.

  • Oversees recruitment and applications for summer programs for high school and college scholars.

  • Collaborates with local schools and institutions to secure program space and support.

  • Supports summer program faculty traveling to provide in-person instruction with classroom management and technology support.

  • Oversees collection and filing of all required program forms including parent permission, research consent, photo releases and agreements.

  • Provides on-site supervision of college scholars/interns.

Partnership Management and Support

  • Connects with Tribes and other local organizations to develop partnerships to implement research and programmatic activities.

  • Provides regular updates to Tribal leadership.

  • Develops communication plans to ensure community engagement and knowledge of program and research activities.

  • Ensures all projects and programming meet and follow all Tribal Resolutions, guidelines and policies.

  • Attends community events to provide information on available programs, including presentations.

Management and Other Duties

  • On-site manager for grant applications, employees, and programmatic activities.

  • Provides insight to community and program needs to inform grant applications, program implementation, and process changes.

  • Supports reporting related to grant funded activities including obtaining financial reports, drafting progress reports, and other information as needed.

  • Supports IRB applications, changes in research, and continuing reviews for JHU and ANC IRBs.

  • Supports grant writing activities including letters of support, strategic planning, writing and research.

  • Supports publication writing.

  • Presents work at local, national, and international conferences.

  • Potential for additional supervision responsibilities, depending on program and funding needs.

  • This position will maintain background clearance as required by the employer and any collaborating agencies.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree.

  • Two years related experience.

  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with Native American populations.

  • Experience working with the Fort Belknap Tribes.

  • Experience working in rural and remote reservation settings.

  • Research experience in nursing, public or mental health.

  • Experience working with high school and college students in a summer camp/program setting.

Classified Title: Program Administrator

Role/Level/Range: ATP/03/PB

Starting Salary Range: $45,700 - $80,000 Annually ($65,400 targeted; Commensurate with experience)

Employee group: Full Time

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 - 4:30 (MT)

If permitted, equivalencies will follow these guidelines: JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.
