Job Description:

The Nursing Department at Wittenberg University seeks to hire a full-time, professor of practice faculty beginning August 1, 2023. Wittenberg is committed to attracting and retaining highly qualified individuals who collectively reflect the diversity of our student body and society at-large. Essential functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Teaching: Deliver courses as assigned (Pediatric, or Mental Health, or Medical/Surgical Nursing, or Critical Care - Faculty teach across the curriculum). Demonstrate effective teaching as evidenced by Faculty and Course Evaluations by Students and Peer Reviews of Teaching. Teach up to 32 credit hours in each academic year.

  • Nursing Clinical Courses: Will serve as Course Coordinator, managing clinical/laboratory experiences for cohort.

  • Scholarship: Scholarly activity in nursing is evaluated via the model recommended by The American Association of Colleges of Nursing and include discovery, teaching, application, and integration.

  • Service: Contribute to nursing program governance and administrative efforts to improve program quality.

    Member of Department of Nursing committees. Represent the Department of Nursing within Wittenberg University committees. Fulfill Professional and Ethical Responsibilities of the Faculty.

Requirements:

Required academic credentials include an earned Master's degree in Nursing with clinical experience in direct patient care. Preferred academic credentials include an earned doctorate in nursing (PhD, DNP, or DNS). Individuals who are completing the final PhD dissertation or DNP project are welcome to apply.

Required professional credentials include an active, unencumbered, unrestricted Ohio Registered Nurse license or eligibility for an Ohio RN license in Ohio. Advanced practice nurses must hold an active Certificate of Authority. Prefer at least five years clinical or educational scholarship experience.

Two years' experience in undergraduate teaching and advising in nursing; and a commitment to excellence in teaching and learning consistent with the University's mission and goals. Candidates must have a strong commitment and interest in teaching in the liberal arts and sciences context.
