Southwestern University, located in Georgetown, Texas, has an immediate opening for a Coordinator position within the Professor John Score II Learning Commons. This position is responsible for managing writing and subject tutoring by providing operational oversight, leadership, and administration of those services. This individual will perform administrative functions in the Director's absence. This is a full-time, 11-month, two-year funded, fully benefited, exempt position that reports to the Director of the Professor John Score II Learning Commons.

Primary Duties:

  • Provides a direct supervision of student staff, coordinates work schedules, manages workflow and responsibilities, and assigns special projects.

  • Responsible for the recruitment, hiring, training, evaluation, and supervision of student employees.

  • Develops and implements an ongoing assessment program and improvements in consultation with the Director.

  • Oversees WConline/Accudemia software and all appointments for writing and subject tutoring.

  • Promotes and markets the Learning Commons services to the Southwestern University community in collaboration with the Director.

  • Continue education on emerging trends in fields of student learning, writing, and pedagogy.

  • Supports Southwestern University and the Learning Commons' mission, values, and priorities.

  • Collaborates with other departmental counterparts in support of programming for at-risk student populations, who need accommodations or have special needs, and first-generation students.

  • Completes university training requirements and relevant ongoing professional development opportunities.

  • May be required to work evenings or weekends on a limited basis.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree.

  • 3 years of work experience in university tutoring, writing, or learning center or a similar environment.

  • 1 year of supervisory experience

  • Excellent organizational and management skills.

  • Ability to work effectively with multiple constituencies as well as excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.

  • Interest in pedagogy, writing center theory, and learning in higher education.

  • Possess strong leadership skills, work ethic, and time management.

  • Possess knowledge, understanding, and acceptance of cultural differences and the diversity within the campus and community.

Preferred Position Requirements:

  • Master's Degree

  • 5 years of experience in a university tutoring, writing, or learning center, including providing operational, administrative, and training oversight.

  • Experience creating digital media, maintaining websites, managing social media accounts for a program or organization, etc.
