We are seeking individuals who desire to use their unique skills to innovate and make an impact.

The Professional Tutor will support our students' academic success, focusing on Basic Sciences such as Physiology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Anatomy, and Physiology. The tutor will work approximately 20 hours per week for 45 weeks per year, providing both on-campus and virtual tutoring sessions. This individual receives direct supervision from the Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning and is expected to work independently to complete tasks.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Deliver personalized tutoring sessions in-person and virtually to students in Basic Sciences, adapting to learners' needs.

  • Develop and implement individualized learning plans to enhance students' understanding of complex subjects.

  • Collaborate with faculty to ensure tutoring sessions complement course objectives and academic standards.

  • Provide feedback and strategies to improve study habits and exam performance.

  • Track and report students' progress, identifying areas for further improvement.

  • Attend departmental meetings, trainings, and other campus events as required by the Center for Teaching and Learning.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

EDUCATION/EXPERTISE:

  • Doctor of Chiropractic degree required. Licensed chiropractor in the state of Texas.

  • Demonstrated academic success in Basic Sciences, evidenced by official transcripts or scores from the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.

  • Previous tutoring or teaching experience is preferred but not required.

JOB REQUIREMENT/SKILL/ETC.:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships.

  • Good organizational and planning skills and problem-solving to help students achieve academic goals.

  • Ability to structure content and activities for student learning.

  • Ability to perform assigned duties with time pressures and frequent interruptions.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Visual acuity to use a keyboard and view a computer terminal. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp.

  • May require ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; or the ability to stand and walk.

  • Ability to occasionally lift, carry and/or move light to medium weight up to twelve (12) pounds and/or exert up to twelve (12) pounds of force.
