Job Description:

Quincy College-Plymouth Campus is looking for a patient, highly driven tutor skilled in all college level natural sciences with a focus on General Biology I, II, Microbiology, Nutrition, Environmental studies, Chemistry and Physics to join our team in Plymouth. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of Quincy College students.

The primary responsibility of a tutor is to support students to become more independent learners, persist in college, and reach their goals. Tutors provide individual and/or group tutoring to students based on their personal area of expertise. Tutors meet with students to clarify and review concepts taught in class, explain processes, and help students solve specific problems.

Job Duties:

• Provide subject specific content to help students through drop in assistance.

• Work closely with students to help them understand key concepts, terms, and formulas.

• Teach skills to improve academic performance including study strategies, note taking,

• Utilize listening and questioning strategies as the primary tutoring method to diagnose student needs and monitor progress

• Provide feedback to students using positive reinforcement techniques to encourage, motivate and help build confidence in the students.

• Use active listening strategies to allow students to determine content and pace of tutoring.

• Track all students utilizing your services with the provided excel spreadsheet to be submitted on weekly basis.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

• Thorough knowledge of the specific subject matter

• Strong verbal and written communication skills to clearly explain challenging concepts, provide instructions, and deliver feedback.

• Ability to motivate and encourage students to improve their academic performance using effective goal setting strategies.

• Have patience and compassion for students as they develop skills and improve their performance!

• Prior teaching or tutor experience preferred.

• Good time management and organizational skills

• Minimum of a bachelor's degree required
