UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital is hiring a Professional Staff Nurse to join their Operating Room team! This is a full-time opportunity that will primarily work rotating shifts, Monday - Friday. Rotating weekday, weekend, and holiday call time is required. Prior operating room experience is preferred, but the department is able to provide structured OR training to nurses new to the operating room environment.
For more than a century we have been caring for women through all stages of their life with the traditional focus on gynecological services but have a wealth of other services to include a wide-range of care for men too! Our specialties include Surgical-Oncology, Breast, Plastics-Reconstruction, Bariatrics, General, Vascular, Urology, Uro-gyne, GI service lines.
Annually we have about 15,000 surgeries with 14 Operating Rooms, 2 Procedure rooms, and 1 Cysto room. The operating room also provides support to OB Operating Rooms as needed. Our OR participates in AORN. We also offer Periop 101 training for new nurses under the direction of our on-site Operating Room Educator. Magee is a Magnet Designated Hospital that participates in hospital-based committees.

The Professional Staff Nurse is a valued step in the UPMC nursing career ladder, with opportunities for continued growth and advancement; Title and salary will be determined based upon education and nursing experience. Six months experience is required for Professional Staff Nurses.
Actively participates in department or unit-specific quality improvement efforts. Identifies opportunity for quality improvement to colleagues and management. Utilizes research and evidence-based practice to support improvement in clinical care: identifies research issues or articles related to clinical specialty or areas of interest, discusses opportunities for quality improvement at multidisciplinary rounds, and influences patients' plans of care.

Six months of previous nursing experience is required.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
UPMC approved national certification preferred. Current Pennsylvania licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse.
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
