We are currently seeking a Project Manager with a strong emphasis on Environmental Health and Safety (EHS). The position will be a dual-role position with equal responsibility as a project manager and EHS specialist for one of our Life Science clients. Typical projects are building infrastructure (electrical systems

  • UPS, Generators; switchgear; mechanical systems - air handlers, boilers, chillers, cooling towers, etc.; lab equipment and moves - autoclaves, fume hoods, etc.; Fire Life Safety Systems

  • Sprinkler systems, Controls, etc.; and building envelope - roofs, pavement, parking structure, etc.) in an office space, lab, or manufacturing space.

As an Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) Specialist, you will be responsible for the coordination and supervision of all safety high risk activities planning, execution, and documentation, related to JLL managed projects at the site. This role will support the Small Capital Projects (PDS) program at the client site. The individual will assist JLL Management team in EHS, regulatory and compliance areas. This position is responsible for ensuring a safe and compliant workplace through the adherence to applicable Provincial and local EHS standards and regulations as well as compliance with Client and JLL company and Client standards.

Leading industry changing projects

As a Project Manager at JLL, you will be directly responsible for executing complex project goals through agile and strategic leadership. Leveraging a national platform will allow you to focus on and lead industry changing projects that influence the future of work. Your strong knowledge of construction projects, from inception to execution and turn over (especially in a highly regulated life science setting) will speak to your holistic approach to client needs. Your influence will be founded in facilitating critical stakeholder meetings to discuss project deliverables (schedule and budget), providing on-site project leadership and applying financial acumen to meet client goals.

Qualifying Attributes:

  • A Bachelor's degree is required. Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.

  • 3+ years' experience demonstrating their advanced project management/engineering skills and experience managing a variety of project, sizes, types and complexities.

  • Must be willing to train and become proficient in Jones Lang LaSalle's and client's project management software's and develop an advanced knowledge of PDS Platform (including, AdaptiveWork, eBuilder, One View, Tools, & Templates).

  • Maintain knowledge of interconnection points with other Jones Lang LaSalle Service Lines (e.g., Integrated Facilities Management, Engineering Services, Occupancy Planning, Move-Add-Change Projects) and expertise in how to leverage these services into additional opportunities to serve our clients.

  • Ability to manage all aspects of construction projects effectively and efficiently including, but not limited to budgeting, scheduling, submittals, change orders.

  • A technical understanding of MEP, critical environments, fire and life safety, sustainability, and infrastructure projects.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Project software.

  • Demonstrate an ability to negotiate terms and conditions with subcontractors that align with the value expectations that we share with our clients.

  • Demonstrate an ability to manage with vendors and subcontractors to ensure full compliance with all project policies and procedures, including the formal closeout of all projects in less than 120 days after project completion.

  • Demonstrate an ability to develop a continuous improvement and development program for their own growth plan.

  • Competency with Lock-Out & Tag-Out, Hot Work, Fall Prevention, Hazard Communication, Confined Spaces among other programs.

  • Experience implementing an EHS program for a large organization.

  • Ability to understand OSHA 1926 requirements and review OSHA safety logs for contractors.

PM Responsibilities:

  • Responsibility to prepare (or oversee the preparation) of accurate project documentation for all phases of construction including project charter, due diligence reports, budgets, schedules, meeting minutes, financial funding requests, status reports, punch lists, and special reports, on-time and in accordance with pre-established formats in order to pass all project documentation reviews with client.

  • Oversees project implementation and execution through completion of MEP and building systems construction projects and remodels.

  • Responsibility to develop risk management plans, and lead teams through established work authorization processes in order to ensure no impacts or incidents within critical environments or equipment.

  • Facilitate a project kick-off meeting with internal staff and key stakeholders to ensure responsibilities are communicated and understood by all concerned.

  • Prepare various RFPs needed for vendor and contractor services for the complete project.

  • Responsibility to handle multiple projects in various stages of completion.

  • Guide the client and team through the design implementation process including conceptual, schematic, design development and construction documentation and signoff.

  • Control schedule, cost, quality and risk as Clients' professional advocate

  • Ensure that Team Lead is fully and accurately informed of all project, internal and client issues affecting the perception of the local, national and global reputation of the firm.

  • Responsibility to work as "One Team" with our JLL teammates and associates.

EHS Responsibilities

  • Provide "boots on the ground" facilities and construction safety oversight for PDS projects.

  • Work with Operations and Engineering to review and monitor Job Hazard Analyses, assist in the completion and application of Safety Work Permits.

  • Work with Operations and Engineering to perform hazard (risk) assessments and evaluations; implement risk reduction/mitigation strategies as appropriate.

  • Identify training requirements and coordinate training sessions for EHS regulatory and Client training requirements.

  • Execute documented field inspections day-to-day through the Purposeful Presence on the Floor program.

  • Execute documented field safety observations to facilities services and planned risk activities.

  • Inspect vendor operations using prescribed protocols. Collaborate with JLL vendor partners to assure they operate their businesses in compliance with Client and JLL requirements while on-site.

  • Support and promote positive EHS culture of continuous improvement.

  • Assist the JLL Site Team in the accident investigation and communication process including the identification of root causes. Implement training and tools necessary to ensures that reports on EHS incidents and performance are submitted on a timely basis, and that corrective actions are taken.

Certifications/Licenses:

  • PREFERRED: LEED, AIA, PE, PMP, Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), Certified Safety Professional (CSP).

Work Requirement and Work Conditions:

  • Position may work primarily at client site or project location with potential daily client and contractor interaction.

  • Face to face and/or remote daily interpersonal interaction is usually required in order to perform the job.

  • Travel as needed in support of project and may range from 0-2 nights per month.

  • Available to support critical operations, emergencies, special events as well as work activities after hours.
