Therapist Needed for STARS Treatment Program - All Training Provided!

We need passionate candidates to join us in our Specialized Treatment and Recovery Services for Schizophrenia within The Centers' organization. This therapist position will provide therapeutic services for those who enroll in our FIRST team services. FIRST is a comprehensive treatment program designed to identify and treat clients experiencing a first episode of a psychotic illness, specifically Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder, Schizophreniform Disorder, and Other Specified/Unspecified Schizophrenia Spectrum and Other Psychotic Disorders. The Therapist will also work with persons with schizophrenia practicing CBT for Psychosis. Training will be provided in all evidence-based practices and interventions!

The Behavioral Health Therapist (BHT) is responsible for providing developmentally appropriate, outcome-focused diagnostic and therapeutic service to patients and families in accordance within their scope of practice. The BHT functions as a member of the interdisciplinary team and provides clinical social work services to patients and their families to improve or maintain social, emotional, functional and physical health: provides consultation, education, and training to staff regarding psychosocial issues that impact the delivery of optimal health care services; and participates in the development and delivery of education, research and continuous quality improvement. The STARS BHT staff will train in Individual Resiliency Training (IRT). The IRT Clinician is responsible for assisting clients in the management of their illness. Treatment is based on each client's goals. The IRT Clinician sometimes provides Family Education and Support

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES TO THE FIRST EPISODE TEAM:

  • IRT services are used to help a client develop the skills necessary to become independent and successful in the community.

  • Sessions are based on manualized treatment. Manualized treatment provides the client information and skills about the management of their illness

  • Helps client set goals and improve personal resiliency

  • Helps client gain insight into his or her illness; develops tools for coping and strengthening problem-solving abilities

  • Facilitates progress toward client's personal goal(s)

  • Providers utilize the first nine modules outlined below before moving into the ten elective modules. The primary objective of these initial counseling sessions is to complete the first nine modules

  • If at any time the client endorses symptoms of depression or verbalizes thoughts of suicide (or team members suspect client is experiencing suicidality), complete Module 16 on suicide risk assessment

  • Participates in weekly FIRST treatment team meetings

  • Participates in discipline-specific consultation with the FIRST Team Leader

  • Participates in monthly CBT-p consultation with the BeST Center Consultant/Trainer

  • Participates in monthly first episode psychosis learning collaborative

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Screen, assess and establish effective relationship with patient/family

  • Develop family-centered plan of care and monitor/evaluation of progress

  • Facilitate the patient/family's ability to assume responsibility for managing their own health care when appropriate

  • Collaborate with appropriate care coordinators to facilitate continuity of care and optimal health outcomes.

  • Provide crisis intervention as necessary to increase patient/family functioning and facilitate health management.

  • Identify, mobilize and coordinate community and health care resources to support optimal functioning for patients and families.

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to identify, assess, and report suspected child abuse as required by law, with particular attention to risk reduction and prevention.

  • Provide direct clinical services including individual supportive therapy and psychotherapy to clients on an individual, group, and family basis in the office and community settings.

  • Advocate for clients' rights and preferences.

  • Conduct a comprehensive assessment of psychiatric history, mental status, and diagnosis.

  • Conduct client-centered functional assessment and treatment planning.

  • Provide symptom education to enable clients to identify their mental illness symptoms.

  • Engage and motivate clients in all of the treatment goals of the client while providing direct service.

  • Collaborate and consult with community agencies to maintain coordination in the treatment process.\

  • Provide on-call crisis intervention covering nighttime hours and serves as a backup for weekend and evening staff.

  • Complete all required documentation in a timely manner consistent with agency guidelines.

  • Meet or exceed agency required productivity standards.

  • Will utilize evidence-based approaches to care, including motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care, and strength-based therapy.

ESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • LSW or LPC is licensed in the State of Ohio is required, LISW or LPCC is preferred.

  • Masters degree in social work or a social service discipline with a minimum of three years mental health, chemical dependency.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK RESPONSIBILITIES

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak and hear. The employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods, stand, walk, use hands and fingers, and reach with hands and arms. It requires the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. Travel and work outside of normal hours may be required for meetings, presentations, training, and other events.
