Job Description:
Summary and Purpose of the Position: Reporting to the Director of Learning Support Systems, Professional Tutors are staff who work with students to help them to develop effective learning strategies and to become self-regulated learners. These tutors help students with discipline-specific content.
Function of Position:
Foster the development of independent, intentional learners
Develop and nurture rapport with students, peers, and faculty
Collaborate with faculty on providing workshops and in setting tutoring expectations
Adhere to tutoring center protocol and tutoring expectations as outlined in the Tutor Handbook
Promote critical thinking and problem solving
Help to identify and fill learning gaps with discipline specific content
Help students understand our learning management system (Brightspace)
Prepare students for exams and quizzes

Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering Science
Experience working with diverse college populations
Technology savvy
Preferred Qualifications:
Additional Information:
Pay rate is determined by candidate's degree:
Bachelor's Degree - $17/hr
Master's Degree - $19/hr
PhD - $21.00
