We are currently looking to grow our Melt department at our Bakers facility in Monroe, NC and are looking to hire in a few different roles including plasma melter, VAR melter, raw materials technician, and more. As part of this team, you will play a critical role in the manufacturing of highly engineered materials and products for the aerospace and defense industries. Depending on the role you could be operating the speedway and hydraulic presses, furnaces, saws, grinders, shot blaster, forklift and cranes as well as repair and rebuilds of furnaces, pre-operating setups and general production maintenance.
A successful associate will be able to demonstrate critical thinking skills, complex problem-solving skills, dependability, analytical thinking, troubleshooting skills and attention to detail. You would need to understand the importance of safety and follow all safety policies and procedures. Communicating effectively with production teams to coordinate material needs and resolve issues will be important to keep work flowing smoothly. Physical stamina for tasks like frequent stair climbing will allow for supporting operations as required. Taking initiative to maintain a clean and organized workspace along with certification requirements is crucial as well. Adaptability to computerized recordkeeping and new processes over time will also help maximize efficiency.
Additional responsibilities vary depending on the specific role and include the following:
Efficiently set-up and turn around furnaces, operating and making necessary adjustments according to established procedures.
Demonstrate the ability to meet melt cycle times consistently for which they have been trained.
Perform furnace changes, lead changes, and other basic maintenance as needed.
Maintain accurate, complete, and legible logs, records, and charts.
Operate heavy machinery such as forklifts and cranes.
Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
Perform all jobs necessary to keep workflow going.
Assist in training new employees.
Work from mill order schedules.
Work from blend instructions, use SPC charts, use weigh scales, use simple arithmetic.
Follow prescribed safety regulations, reporting all unsafe acts or conditions.
Must be able to maintain IME certification by fulfilling all requirements

Proficient in precision measuring techniques using tools such as measuring tapes.
Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure.
Basic computer skills
Use gauges, controls, maintain required records and reports.
Strong reading comprehension skills with the ability to understand and follow written instructions.
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and the ability to interact well with employees, and cross functional teams are essential.
