To coordinate and administer training for new PI (finishing) employees at Boston Whaler. Must be self-starter / self-motivator capable of working under general supervision. The successful candidate will demonstrate that training success is not how well one can teach, but how well trainees can demonstrate what they have learned on the production floor. Successful candidate relies on experience and good judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide safety training specific to work area

  • Provide hands on skill training using video, SOPs or documented procedures

  • Teach hands-on basic finishing competencies with up to 6 trainees

  • Support Touch Point program until trainee is fully certified

  • Develop and conduct intermediate and advanced PI skills training as needed; may require initial assessment and review with area manager

  • Evaluate and document performance of each trainee and provide feedback to area supervision

  • Create SOP or training content as needed; may require working with multiple areas

  • Train and certify individuals on the use of restricted equipment as needed

  • Administrative duties to managing training records, surveys, and other tasks as needed

  • Classroom training as required

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of two years production experience in PI including structural or bag pattern repairs

  • Work days are typically 10 hours M-Th 6:00-4:30pm

  • Must be capable of understanding and adhering to all BW safety policies

  • Attention to detail, good interpersonal and coaching skills, positive attitude

  • Problem and conflict resolution skills

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Must be able to work in a dusty hot environment

SPECIAL SKILLS:

  • Experience in MS Excel, MS Word, MS Power Point, Adobe Acrobat, Outlook, Office 365, Workday preferred but will train the right candidate

  • Project timeline management

The Supervisor position is the first step in the leadership ladder that has business ownership and is accountable to produce the highest quality products that meet customer expectations while contributing to the profitability of the business. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES * Responsible for maintaining and understanding Key Performance Indicators through root cause analysis and action planning * Eliminate non-value added work that will lead to reducing our manufacturing cost structure. * Develop and implement process improvements that will drive critical metrics in the safety, quality, delivery and cost categories * Select and develop employees in order to achieve our goals and objectives. * Ensure products are produced with the highest quality and meet engineering specifications. * Ensure communications are accurate and timely and reach all employees in the supervisor's area of responsibility * Utilize and maintain leader standard work * Maintain employees' time and attendance records. * Evaluate employee performance. * Administer disciplinary actions in accordance with Company Policy. * Each area will have a scope of responsibility document that will expand on a specific supervisor's area of responsbility * Related duties as assigned. EXPERIENCE/SKILLS * Experience in field strongly preferred * Previous supervisory experience preferred, leadership experience required * Working knowledge of PC based software (WORD & EXCEL). EDUCATION/TRAINING * Willingness to go to Nightshift per business needs is required to be eligible for the position * Yellow belt or similar LSS training class required, green belt certification preferred * Working toward an associate or bachelors preferred but not required We are the people behind life's passions.
