Job Description

The Middletown Engine Center, Production Engine Test Facility is seeking a highly motivated candidate for the position of Senior Test Systems Engineer for AWW2 shift reporting to the PTSE Supervisor. This is a systems level position supporting all engine programs currently in production, including the F135, F100, PW1100G, PW1400G, V2500, and PW4000 94". The incumbent would be the Primary Building contact for the TSE on AWW2 shift, coordinating with the production test engineers and test supervision.

AWW2 is a weekend shift. Work hours are 6pm-6am on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (finishing Monday morning at 6am).

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Responding to trouble calls for Test Stand Data System Issues. Assists in troubleshooting of Jet Engine Electrical Systems. Documents root cause and drives corrective action.

  • Troubleshooting of test cell wiring and controls including Programmable Logic Controllers, Valves, Solenoids and Relays.

  • Calibration, Maintenance and troubleshooting a variety of precision instrumentation, including Thermocouples, RTDs, Load Cells, RVDTs/Resolvers, Pressure Transducers, Pressure Gauges, Flowmeters and Weather Instrumentation.

  • Maintaining and Troubleshooting Data System Hardware, including PCs, Operator Interfaces, Local Networking, Audio/Visual Systems, Data Acquisition Hardware and Engine Control Equipment.

  • Calibration, Disposition and Repair of electrical and mechanical hardware in support of the shop floor.

  • Works closely with Production, Test Engineering, and Software groups to support daily operations, special test requirements (Pilot Lots, Etc.), and Test Process Improvements.

  • Occasional off shift coverage may be required.

Ideal Candidate will possess:

  • Strong electronics background including analog and digital circuits, troubleshooting of circuit boards, and soldering skills. Interpretation of Test Stand and Engine Electrical Schematics required.

  • Working knowledge of Linux/Unix Environments and Github.

  • Proficient in use of Laboratory test equipment, including Multi-meters, oscilloscopes, Function Generators, hydrometers, etc.

  • Working knowledge of industrial and avionics communication protocols, including RS232, RS422, UART, ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553 and Fiber Optics.

  • Strong background in Computers and Networking including computer build and setup, LAN setup and TCP/IP networking.

  • Engine test, flight line and/or engine shop maintenance knowledge is highly desired.

Education: 5+ years' experience with related technical degree (B.S.) or 10+ years relevant experience with high school degree

Must be a U.S Citizen, no security clearance required.

Pratt & Whitney is seeking an experienced, proactive, and goal oriented professional to lead Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) execution on critical components in the Operations organization. Execution of MRL elements to drive process control will dramatically improve the company's quality and delivery signature. The Assembly Process ME will be responsible for production support of the PDC Assembly floor across multiple engine models and processes. Responsibilities: * Provide focused & effective leadership in the advancement of manufacturing process activities to drive manufacturing risk identification and mitigation to achieve superior quality performance. * Identify & implement process optimization to eliminate/prevent quality turn backs /escapes and reduce overall product costs. * As a key member of the manufacturing engineering organization, significant interaction with shop floor personnel, other manufacturing engineers, quality engineers, product designers, tool designers, systems designers, Manufacturing Engineering Fellows / Subject Matter Experts, and other stakeholders is required. * Use statistical analysis tools to perform Root cause analysis and corrective actions on non-conforming product. * Represent the organization in various forums related to MRL execution. Develop standard work, procedures, and integrate industry-standard best practices. * Participate in manufacturing process councils that drive systemic process improvements through baselining current process performance and developing continuous improvement actions. * Drive manufacturing process technology development, including process modelling, through identification of opportunities to advancing MRL through to production implementation. * Specific manufacturing/assembly process knowledge required: * Specific process discipline elements…..(assembly, engine system-level knowledge, engine test processes) * Implementation of new capital equipment from specification and ordering through delivery, installation and release to production. * Help build and maintain shop floor work instructions (including specifications, engineering changes, QAD/process control, and tooling definition/requirements.) Experience/Qualifications: * Demonstrated technical proficiency in complex manufacturing/assembly activities * Demonstrated proficiency leading and managing a portfolio of cross functional projects * Effective team player with strong good interpersonal skills capable of influencing and getting cooperation and action from others. * Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written), work and relate with people at all levels. * Ability to encourage and motivate others to be successful. * Excellent knowledge of MS office computer software including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
