Production Technologist Reveal Lateral Flow Manufacturing

The Food Safety Division is currently seeking a candidate for a Production Technologist position. The ideal candidate should have the ability to perform basic mathematical operations, follow and document all manufacturing procedures, be capable of identifying and resolving problems in a timely manner and be able to work both independently, as well in a group setting.

The selected candidate would be responsible for the dispensing of prepared solutions onto membrane using automated and semi-automated equipment. The individual would also be involved with the assembly of lateral flow components and devices as well as assisting in the maintenance of raw material inventory.

Education and/or Experience: High school education; Completed college level science program, chemistry or biology coursework preferred; or up to six months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Summary:
Assists in the formulation of reagents and preparation of some components used in the assembly of lateral flow devices according to Standard Operating Procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Dispense prepared solutions onto membrane using automated and semi-automated equipment.

  • Use good manufacturing processes and ISO approved procedures to manufacture products.

  • Document all manufacturing procedures.

  • Assist in the assembly of lateral flow components and devices.

  • Assist in maintenance of raw material inventory.

  • May work in different departments as production needs require.

Education and/or Experience: High school education; or up to six months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers, multiply and divide with 10's and 100's and calculate percent. Ability to perform these calculations using units of American weight and measurement.

Language Skills:
Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to read, write and speak simple sentences in English.

Perform routine chemical, immunochemical, biological or microbiological assays on manufactured diagnostic products to determine compliance with specified performance standards. Assist supervisor with oversight of throughput and batch release. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Perform routine chemical, immunochemical, biological or microbiological assays in accordance to Standard Assay Procedure (SAP) or Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). * Perform assays associated with R&D transfer products in accordance to Standard Assay Procedure (SAP) or Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). * Adhere to International Organization for Standardization guidelines in daily activities . * Adhere to good lab practices (GLP) guidelines in daily activities. * Assist in the development of new QC procedures. * Help with special projects assigned by supervisor. * Perform equipment qualification. * Participate in brainstorming sessions to streamline routine activities/troubleshoot manufacturing and QC issues. * Assist Supervisor with scheduling throughput and basic release of product. * Train new staff in QC positions. * Meet individual and departmental goals and objectives.
