This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Facilities, and Security. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

As part of a hardworking team of diverse specialists, technicians, and engineers (use as appropriate), you will

Provides tactical and technical support to Engineering/Production/Manufacturing by performing activities such as design, test, check-out, modification, fabrication, and assembly of prototype electro/mechanical systems, experimental design circuitry, laser/light transmission devices or specialized test equipment. Applications may include electronic circuits, photonics and logic systems. Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, checkout and trouble-shooting functions. Performs operational test and fault isolation on systems and equipment. Assists in determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions. Assists in the design, construction, test and check-out of test equipment. Uses manufacturing, test, development or diagnostic equipment, including, but not limited to, test programs, oscilloscopes, signal generators and specialized test apparatus.

Shifts available:

  • Night Shift-2nd shift Monday-Friday onsite

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Must be able to work 2nd Shift. Monday-Friday.

  • Experience in manufacturing, assembly, and fabrication.

  • Interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, written work instructions, and test procedures.

  • Set up and operate a wide range of precision-calibrated tools such as torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, and optical measuring instruments.

  • Work collaboratively with teams of diverse skills, fields, and backgrounds.

  • Communicate clearly and appropriately, in writing and person.

  • Basic digital literacy such as Windows, Microsoft Office, etc.

  • Repetitively climb ladders/stairs and work in small, restricted areas.

  • Perform repetitive work, including lifting items to 50 lbs.

  • Operate various material handling equipment including forklifts, overhead cranes, aerial lifts, truck-trailer combinations, and other ground support equipment as required.

  • High School diploma or GED.

  • Ability to support scheduled work shifts (we rotate shifts occasionally) and work off-shift (2nd or 3rd shifts), extended hours, and weekends if/when vital.

  • Other duties as assigned or otherwise beneficial to fulfilling the mission.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ownership of shop tooling inventory, including coordination of periodic inspection/calibration and repair/rework of worn/defective tooling as needed.

  • Ownership of all consumables and non-flight hardware (drill bits, drill blocks, bushings, temporary fasteners, miscellaneous supplies, etc.) to ensure proper stock levels are maintained.

  • Purchasing of specialty tooling and equipment (drill bits, drill motors, bushings, administrative supplies, etc.), including adjustment of min/max inventory levels based on business need.

  • Establishment of permanent home positions for new tooling.

  • Primary 5S ownership for the shop (toolboxes, tables, storage cages/cabinets, etc. - standardizing and organizing using 5S principles to ensure compliance with standards.

  • Daily audits to identify/eliminate the risk of Foreign Object Damage (FOD).

  • Assist with the production of flight hardware (parts handling, assisting with installs, etc.) when needed.

  • Understand clean-as-you-go techniques and the need for general cleanliness.

  • Be able to manage flight and non-flight hardware.

  • Demonstrated success as a "hands-on" doer and/or leader.

  • Work effectively with a strong work ethic and close attention to detail in a fast-paced dynamic team environment with constantly evolving roles and responsibilities.

  • Experience in handling large aerospace components.

  • Experience in a team-based Lean Manufacturing environment.
