Description
be responsible for administrative duties and day-to-day activities directly related to the quality department including ensuring compliance with internal and external procedures, regulatory agency guidelines, and institutional policies. As the Production Support Technician, you will perform product inspections, develop and train new quality procedures and monitor plant performance. Lastly, you will perform internal audits on a routine basis to identify any non-conforming areas and develop sustainable corrective actions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Ink Management:
Ensure proper labeling of ink containers and stocking adequate amounts of related consumables.
Dispense and certify inks required for all jobs in production.
Follow standard operating procedures, utilizing given tools and software, to ensure ink meets quality standards.
Stage all inks and maintain ink levels at each press in advance of each job, utilizing the production schedule.
Order and maintain inventory levels for required consumables including specialized inks.
Maintain ink area in clean working order, including maintenance of GSE Color Match Dispenser as necessary.
Create and maintain the GCMS library for digital color standards.
Process ink returns and recertify to standards prior to putting on the shelf.
Assist production operators in troubleshooting ink related issues on press.
Coordinate with Pre-Press department regarding new orders or specialized color or applications.
Quality Assurance:
Pull samples for external complaints, investigate root cause, and develop corrective actions by working with associates across departments.
Communicate and document all non-conforming raw materials to plant Buyer.
Log all internal and external quality issues and maintain communication with customers to ensure non-conforming products are addressed promptly.
Write SOP's (standard operating procedures) for current and future processes. Focus on 1-point lessons which are visual in nature.
Develop training materials and facilitate required training to employes. Maintain accurate and legally compliant training records for each quality program.
Work with production management to address performance misses/gaps and develop appropriate corrective actions.
Perform internal quality audits, identify non-conforming items. Create and implement corrective actions.
Establish procedures, documentation and oversee committees, as necessary, to ensure compliance with all internal and external (ISO, Product Safety, Customer, etc.) quality requirements.
Additional duties as required.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree preferred.
At least three (3) years of experience within the printing or packaging industry or related experience in any manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of relevant safety laws and regulations and other quality assurance processes and procedures preferred.
Experience with GSE Color Match machine and related programs and machines is a plus.
Knowledge of ink and related consumable properties is a plus.

Ability to read and interpret Standard operating procedures (SOP's).
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to prioritize competing demands and be proactive in job duties, always thinking a step ahead in terms of ink needs.
Excellent problem solving and analytical abilities.
Proficient with Microsoft Office (including Microsoft Excel and Outlook)
Proficient with project management software (Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, etc.).
Experience and understanding of quality related documentation.
Ability to analyze data, draw conclusions, and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
High level of detail-orientation.
Proactive mindset with proven problem-solving abilities.

Physical Demands:
Lifting, sitting, standing, crouching, required. Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
Pass a pre-employment drug test and subject to random drug screening.
Work Environment:
Regular exposure to dust and noise in the production environment.
Warehouse environment temperatures may be influenced by outside temperatures.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Safety glasses are highly recommended in the production area.
Safety shoes are highly recommended in the production area.
