Production Support Operator

Albany Molecular Research Inc. provides global contract research and manufacturing services to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.

Support timely manufacturing of parenteral cGMP products in an aseptic environment including: set up, operate, sanitize and sterilize equipment and manufacturing areas; prepare, wash, and sterilize vials; complete batch calculations, preparation, and formulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Prepare and sanitize equipment for clean rooms, product compounding, and filling according to preparation list this includes disassembly/assembly.

  • Load and unload steam sterilizers, washers, prepare and weigh stoppers, etc. according to proper diagrams and instructions.

  • Record all procedures in logbooks following completion and complete/correct batch records to ensure readiness for fill.

  • Sanitize aseptic/controlled production areas to ensure microbial contamination is reduced to safe level on inanimate surfaces.

  • Bubble point test filters and read/interpret SOPs to ensure compliance.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Job Requirements

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and 2 year's related experience (production, manufacturing, and/or clean room experience preferred) and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Pass Wonderlic Basic Skills Test at 12th grade level or higher

Other Qualifications:

  • Comprehend and follow SOPs, cGMPs, and detailed instructions to successfully produce sterile quality products.

  • Document information, events, and cGMP manufacturing processes clearly, accurately and completely.

  • Perform duties in an organized, detail oriented manner.

  • Apply basic math: measures, weights, fractions, decimals.

  • Apply basic computer skills.

  • Work and communicate well with others in a team environment.

Under the direction of the Area Production Superintendent, indirectly supervises all other employees on the platform. Responsible for operating or overseeing the operation of the production platform. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Responsible for the safety of all personnel working on the Platform and the Safety of the Environment. Conducts safety briefings. Observes safe work practices in performance of job duties, including use of proper personal protective equipment at all times. Ensures that safe work practices are followed by all personnel. * Inspects all equipment ensure equipment is in safe working condition. Maintains records of inspections, as required. * Directs the repair or removes from service any unsafe equipment. * Trains his crew in the optimum and safe performance of their duties and the proper care and maintenance of the equipment. * Monitors all instrumentation. * Maintains a current crane operator certification and operates, or supervises the operation of the platform. * Maintains and ensures that accurate preparation of all reports and logs delegated to this position. * Assist in the investigation and documentation of any near-misses or work related injuries. Provides first aid treatment, if necessary. Requirements: * Education: High School Diploma or General Education Certification (GED); or equivalent educational ability; or ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination or education and experience. Must have knowledge of all typical production platform activities. * Computer Skills: Excel * Certificates and Licenses: T2 * Language Skills: Ability to read and interpreted documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. * Math Skills: High School equivalent skills. * Reasoning Skills: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exits. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. * Pass the required physical examination and drug and alcohol test.
